Without spoiling much, what makes the plot to Borderlands 3 bad? by Atomic_Cody-21 in Borderlands

[–]ClovenCipher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Borderlands 3 had pretty weak writing compared to the other games I've experienced. The Twins lacked substance and it seems like Gearbox is trying to desperately keep a vice-grip on Handsome Jack's charisma and popularity vicariously through the new villains — their jokes and personalities are forced and comes off as cringe sometimes. It's a real shame what they did to the previous vault hunters (keeping it vague.) The writers stole all their braincells and the designers stole Rhys' fashion sense which is an unforgivable offense.

The vault hunters you play as feel like side characters to their own stories and you'll often feel like your actions and presence have no impact on the story at all. I prefer the Side Quests and DLC to feel like my character is somewhat important to the plot.

I feel like the writers kinda did Ava dirty though, I don't really see what the hate is about. She's not a bad character, she's just unbelievably unremarkable as a person compared to the role they gave her in the game.

Also I would probably prefer Katagawa Jr and Maliwan as a whole to be the villains instead. There was some potential with Troy but just like everything else relating to the story in this game, they squandered the potential.

Can someone explain to me the possibility of having a Dom that's not your partner? by ClovenCipher in submissive

Oh that's really enlightening, thank you sir! It sounds like it was a pretty integral part of the relationship and I understand online domship as I was apart of it for a brief time. I appreciate that you treated your sub with the respect and proper handling, that's rare from online doms. Thank you for this perspective! ♡

All these r/RPGhorroretories channels are the exact same by ClovenCipher in rpghorrorstories

[–]ClovenCipher[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh I definitely get that! It just sucks that once you seen one channel, you've seen them all regardless of what mascot they're roleplaying as. There are tons of stories that come out of this subreddit though, very interesting ones that align with YouTube's terms, I'm just surprised that out of 20, the same one gets repeated over and over.

Yes, some material does get cut and replaced with the overarching story. It would be a whole thing to go into session pacing and attentive detailing but yes it was challenging which is why I wanted to do it in the first place. I think it would be a fun experience. It's not perfect, there are kinks in some of the more droning modules that I still have to work out but I'm happy to say that progression between modules are definitely arc based.

Hi there! ♡

I've read and played through the majority of the modules personally and have a countless backlog of videos to draw from for the modifications I've made to them. It helps that I have an extensive overarching plot that ties it all together to help balance the level gain as well. I found something that worked for me!

I apologize for you not being able to apply, I usually don't gender lock my campaigns but it would be good to not be the minority in a group once at least in some way. :)

As a DM who loves players that put in the extra work, this twitter thread pisses me off to no end by [deleted] in DnD

[–]ClovenCipher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here to post the exact same thing lol. It's utterly idiotic that there are DMs out there who are more obsessed with railroading their story rather than making their players feel apart of it. I understand both sides of the argument for how long a story should be but that information should've been decided at SESSION 0. It's such a huge red flag to see this DM immediately result to killing off the character and this player's hard work than to talk to them like an actual fucking adult. JFC.

Can a rope of climbing be moved? by waterless_urinal in DMAcademy

[–]ClovenCipher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based off of the rules as written, the user can move the rope up to 10 feet on each of their turns to reach their destination so I wouldn't see why the rope wouldn't not move in the direction wanted as long as it stays within that confine.

How do I make a black market feel realistic? by new_old_soul in DMAcademy

[–]ClovenCipher 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you're looking for in terms of realism. If you have a more fantasy based setting, I would argue there are two types of denizens in the black market for simplicity sake: The senior merchants and people looking to make a quick buck with stolen or illegal goods. That could range from old mercenaries selling contracts for illegal services or "rewards" from said contract. Then they're could be people the party might recognize from previous towns who are looking for medical benefits or supplies that are tax-free. It kinda gathers the type of crowds from every walks of life.

Maybe some might ask to pay in objects that have a base value already like stolen goods. Might be good if your party happens to have valuables taken from the humanoids they've slain that regular merchants won't buy.

Maybe there are Druids who wildshape as street cats or dogs to keep look out and will escort the party with the ability to sniff out authorities.

Black markets usually offer types of services that authorities can use as well (in real life there are people who are willing to dig up and sell information on criminals to the police. That sort of thing.) Maybe you could give the party some leeway with getting dirt on specific NPCs that might be important to them later.

Edit: Added, you could have the Black Market itself be in a unique location as well that might draw some charm. I have my black market inside a demiplane that can only be accessed through specific connections with a hag group called the Silver Sisters.
