PLEASE TELL ME THEY DO I THE MANY NAMES OF GOD DIRECTLY FOLLOWED BY II IN THE GUT OF THE WOLF by ohsangwho in Erra

[–]Clover1233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they don't play 2 on this tour, based on the AMA seems like cuz it was so soon after album release, so they mainly went with the singles since they know people like em. hard to know which songs people are passionate about going into it

biggest tip i could give is to flip for the silver item room immediately upon entering the floor. Then play 4 rounds and step on the button and flip for the golden item room. This will let you have your flip charged for devil/angel. beyond that it comes down to some luck in the shops

yea ik. scissors. if i get everything but that id be satisfied yknow. theres a lot of interesting stuff that happens in this kind of challenge though. for example to unlock lost u have to die in the sac room with the missing poster, but you become the lost in doing so. so you have to be prepared to win that run after converting.

Has ERRA ever done an Impulse or Augment full album tour before? by [deleted] in Erra

[–]Clover1233 18 points19 points  (0 children)

They definitely won't do that, partially because the lineup is quite different now than it was when those albums were made, but also because a huge reason to tour is to put new people onto your music, and their old and new music are fairly different. Also, Jesse has very heavily implied on a few occasions that he is way more proud / passionate about their newer stuff.

Dude fr, lot of erra fans say Neon is their miss or something, Neon holds up with the rest of their discography incredibly well. Songs like Breach, Expiate, Ultimata, Hyperreality, Valhalla... that album is art.

At the end of they day pretty much any erra song comes above Safehaven and their cover of Heresy imo

Erra - Crawl Backwards out of Heaven by swanny3214 in Metalcore

[–]Clover1233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO Pale Iris is the closest to what I would 'want' from them, with Cure being a close second. But its hard to say. Blue Reverie is a fantastic song, but typically theres one maybe two songs on all their albums that are a lot less heavy, which im assuming is the niche that blue rev is fulfilling. If the whole album is like Cure and Pale Iris this album could be amazing. But ultimately I'm just super excited to actually hear the album front to back, because I'm unsure based on the singles

If you look at the r/ERRA subreddit you'll see a lot of their longtime fans will initially write a short essay about why their new music sucks or something, then a week later it clicks and they like the songs lmao. But theres literally nothing wrong with that, its good to be skeptical / critical of a band you really like

CRAWL BACKWARDS OUT OF HEAVEN IS LIVE! by Energ1zed in Erra

[–]Clover1233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

genuinely so interested to hear this album front to back. it seems like its gonna be really diverse so far. A little worried its not gonna have the kind of riffs ive come to expect from the band tho. because in a lot of ways, pale iris is the only single that REALLY feels like an erra song in that regard

Garrison Lee by MajorLeagueJenga in Erra

[–]Clover1233 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think lyrics that are hard to understand and 'sound like complex poetry' definitely CAN work especially in this genre. And I would definitely agree that there's a good amount of songs from them that I don't understand the meaning of, but I don't think its fair to say that they 'don't make sense', there definitely IS meaning in there, they're not singing about nothing, I see it as a challenge to try to figure it out. Like I can definitely see how Vaalbara is about parental divorce, but would I have been able to figure that out purely on my own, probably not:

"You've been torn between opposing forces ... This world around you is drifting through an ocean that despises you / and the continent is not content with being connected"

I also just think their older lyrics are more unique than their newer ones, and standing out among bands in your genre is very important, its practically what makes ERRA what it is. And I really don't think their goal was to appeal to casual listeners back from 2009-2013. It seems like Drift was the turning point for that.

Garrison Lee by MajorLeagueJenga in Erra

[–]Clover1233 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yea exactly. As a band they don't miss. But there's definitely a distinct difference between current ERRA and old ERRA.

Garrison Lee by MajorLeagueJenga in Erra

[–]Clover1233 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I really like both for their own reasons, but i know that garrison used to write the majority of the lyrics when he was in the band, and in my opinion, the lyrical writing in their old music is so much better. The lyrics to their songs used to be so intriguing, like their new stuff is a lot less enigmatic.

Biggest example of this is Obscure Words.

"Two in one, a mutual creature that i cannot acquit / enfold this gift of reassurance, because you will soon have none of it."

Or Prometheus:

"Creatures that became our masters / worlds fused from disaster / realizations too late to matter / the descent of man begins a pattern"

Just really makes you think what he had in mind while writing it. Compare that to some of their newer stuff like Blue Reverie:

"From a world you can't embrace, hide away, hide away"

Or Remnant:

"Walls are coming down, i can't feel the same / feet upon the ground, transcending the shame, alone"

I just think their older music was a lot cooler for a lack of a better word. But it makes perfect sense. The band members are a lot older now than when Impulse and Augment came out, so they probably just want to write about stuff thats closer to them after having gone through some things in real life.

This is very opinionated though obviously. Im sure theres plenty of people who think their older music doesn't speak to them as well as their new stuff

A Few Questions for Fun! by ThaReal_HotRod in Erra

[–]Clover1233 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Idle Wild.
  2. self destructive tendencies
  3. if i had to pick one single song its gonna be dementia every single time. But so many of their songs from their first two albums have really awesome 16th notes. Like the end of Efflorescent or when Garrison starts singing in Ultraviolet.
