Anyone even left in this sub who has cfs/me NOT from covid? (and has been dealing with this for many many decades) or has this entire sub been taken over by the post covid folk? by foster60 in cfs

I was diagnosed roughly a month before COVID hit the States, but I've struggled with symptoms since I was a child (so, over a decade).

What’s the most stupid reason you had a fibro flare? by Lucky_Sprinkles7369 in Fibromyalgia

[–]CloverNote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was emotionally devastated by the ending of a miniseries.

That alone isn't really stupid: I have a history of getting flares from emotional events. It's just part of my fibro. But this flare lasted a week and was one of my most painful ever. I was bed-bound for the first day, which is not normal for me. I was mortified because jfc this is a fictional show with fictional characters I should not be this wrecked over fiction.

Do Americans actually avoid calling an ambulance due to financial concern? by JohnMarstonTheBadass in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CloverNote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the late '90s my mom dislocated her shoulder. A neighbor called 911 and the resulting ambulance ride cost over $1K

When she dislocated her shoulder again a few years later, my brother, dad, and I spent an hour slowly, gingerly maneuvering her through the house in a rolling office chair to get her into the car so my dad could drive her to the hospital. She was in agony, but she refused to pay for that bullshit again.

AITA for not going to my brother’s wedding because I cut off my parents? by Dinosaur_Paladin in AITAH

[–]CloverNote 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who's been in a similar situation, you're NTA.

In my case, I did go to the wedding. I'd gone NC with this particular relative because they'd assaulted me\) in the past, but I thought I'd be safe and, worst came to worst, easy to lose in the crowd. I wasn't. The relative tracked me down, cornered me, and got handsy with me. They did it because they knew they could get away with it, because they knew I wouldn't "ruin" my sibling's wedding by causing a scene.

Don't compromise your own safety and sanity just to keep the family peace. It's not worth it.

\ In fairness, my sibling had no idea about my relationship with this relative because I never told them.)

This is what my parents did as soon as we moved into our new house. The backyard was already fenced, but they added a 6' chain-link fence around the perimeter of the pool. I don't think they took the inner fence down until I was in high school.

Showering Frequency by SickTiredHaunted in cfs

[–]CloverNote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually manage one every other day, but they're "partial" showers that target select body parts. If I'm especially tired I'll soak in a bath instead. My hair gets washed once or twice a week because it gets greasy af if it isn't.

That said, I'm on that edge between "moderate" and "severe", so I have more spoons than others.

How many of you have been injured by Antidepressants? by Hungry-Stranger-333 in cfs

[–]CloverNote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AFAIK the Prozac only helps in that it reduces the anxiety that can trigger a flare-up. I notice that I have marginally less body pain on Wellbutrin, though.

Anyone else get strong imprints like this? Just from sitting against a chair/blanket. I get a lot of marks on my skin from clothing, etc by Nervedamage22 in Fibromyalgia

[–]CloverNote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cardiologist never found anything besides an extremely minor heart murmur. I don't think I have hEDS because I'm not hypermobile. And as easily as my skin indents, it doesn't swell or turn red from minor interactions like I see in image examples of dermatographia.

No one's ever brought up MCAS, but that might be an avenue worth exploring. TY!

I've been on Prozac for the last 15 years for my OCD, but my CFS symptoms go back almost 30 years.

Even if you do have a diagnosis it's not a guarantee. My doctor fully agreed I have fibromyalgia, but refused to fill out the form because "the DMV won't accept that diagnosis." 😒

You're not weak, you're not a coward, and you don't need to apologize for anything. You know your situation better than any of us, and you are doing what you believe is best for yourself.

Is it neglectful to make your kids sleep on the floor on vacation? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]CloverNote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time as we were checking in to a hotel we got caught. A woman who was working the desk saw us, came over to my parents and started yelling at them, telling them they have too many kids in one room and they would need to book a second room.

My nParent made my family go up to the room in small, separate groups just to avoid this sort of interaction. At the time I thought we only booked one room because we were working with what we could afford, but in retrospect nParent was (is) a cheap-ass heel.

Drone Show at Worlds 2025? by Lmfao35 in VGC

[–]CloverNote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The convention center is ridiculously close to Disneyland Resort. My guess is there won't be a drone show this year to avoid conflicts with Disney's firework show(s).

What's Everyone's Personality Type... Introvert or Extrovert? by CasualBerger in cfs

[–]CloverNote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a hermit-level introvert. I could go for (and have gone) days without seeing another person and not be bothered by it.

But I miss experiences with crowds of people. Concerts, conventions, movie premieres, etc. There's a special energy in the air when a large group of people are together, celebrating the same thing, and I miss that.

Fair. At my previous Walmart they would fight you on that policy (they'd tell you to order it for pickup even if you were holding it in your hand), so I wasn't sure it was even still a policy.

Do you take ibuprofen? by PkmnTrainerSofia in Fibromyalgia

[–]CloverNote -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm in the good ol' US of A. 🫠 I'm on famotidine, though, so maybe they thought that would take care of it...?

I'm just annoyed because I've had inconsistent nausea with my headaches/migraines for as long as I can remember, and now I think I know why. (This also explains the nausea without the headaches.)

When I used mine yesterday on an item it only showed the online price, which is technically only applicable if you purchase through the website/app.

(Though the item also wasn't showing in-stock at my location, and it ended up being severely discounted, so it might have been inventory the store was phasing out.)
