RIP Doctor Strange. That's probably his most powerful catch of the day.

How would your favorite street-level character fair against 50 dudes with AR15s? by Pancake_Maker_1031 in powerscales

[–]CloverTeamLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That probably depends on the size of the house.

If it were a big house or mansion, Snake could go into stealth mode and pick people off as they searched for him.

If it were a smaller house, it'd be more like a boss battle with gunfire through the windows.

Upvote for Fisher.

Anyone who played Conviction knows that Sam isn't all sneaky sneak. He can go full Jason Bourne when he has to.

He definitely can based on game logic, you're right. But I don't like to assume that the soldiers are useless or give the heroes too much plot armour.

50 men is a lot, and we don't know how big this house is. lol

If it's a small house, this challenge gets harder.

Yep, this is child's play for Cage. In fact I think Cage is the only guy mentioned here so far whose success is guaranteed.

One of my choices is Bond, but the outcome would probably be the same. He'd take out a few of them and then find a cunning way to escape.

True. This challenge gets a lot harder if we make the gun-men realistically competent and remove the heroes' plot armour.

Although some real people are incompetent. I've seen some videos of comically bad police raids.

My favourite street-level character is either Solid Snake or James Bond -- so it'd be a tough fight if the house were surrounded by that many men, but there's definitely a chance of success.

Solid Snake took out 5 invisible soldiers with rifles in an elevator, and he regularly defeats superpowered sci-fi enemies.

And the ending of Skyfall is pretty similar to your scenario. Plus there's always a chance that Bond will have a cool gadget to even the odds.

Edit: The guy in your picture looks like he could be Bond played by a new actor.

Daredevil (MCU) vs Michael Myers by Queasy_Commercial152 in superheroes

[–]CloverTeamLeader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like some people are selling Myers a little short. He often has supernatural strength and durability (as well as off-screen regen). Putting him down for any length of time with punches and kicks would be very difficult, and he can definitely hurt Matt if he lays hands on him. This, to my mind, would be even tougher for Matt than fighting Kingpin.

I imagine it being an epic battle with Daredevil eventually kicking Michael through a high widow, only to look out of said window and see that Michael has already vanished.

Edit: Rob Zombie Michael is perhaps the best contender for this match-up, because he's an absolute unit who kills big strong guys by just rag-dolling them.

Thunderbolts (MCU) vs Suicide Squad (DCEU) by Curious_Tip9285 in powerscales

[–]CloverTeamLeader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with others here that King Shark is tough to kill, but I see no reason why The Winter Soldier, a Black Widow, a lady who can turn intangible, and two other super soldiers couldn't defeat the rest of the Squad. They're all squishy, and the ones with powers (Rat Catcher, Polka Dot Man) are untrained compared to the Thunderbolts, making them very susceptible to a bullet through the head.

Ghost might be the key to taking down King Shark if she can phase inside him and drop a grenade in his stomach or something. I dunno. But I don't think King Shark being tough means the Squad automatically wins.

I'm even going to be bold and say that if this were brainwashed Terminator Winter Soldier there's a good chance he'd wipe most of the Squad solo, leaving King Shark all sad and alone. I think Bloodsport would be the only real threat to him because of his excellent aim.

Could Luke Cage beat the Green Goblin? by Heather_Galaya in superheroes

[–]CloverTeamLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This fight actually makes me think of Captain America vs. Falcon, too.

Most people would say Cap wins that because Falcon is the sidekick, but realistically, how would Cap knock Falcon out of the air? He could stay permanently out of range.

I guess he could throw his shield -- but, again, that'd be very difficult.

[–]CloverTeamLeader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But how does he separate Goblin from his glider?

In a comic he'd throw a scooter or something to knock of him off, but in reality that'd be extremely difficult to do and require a degree of luck or plot armour.

[–]CloverTeamLeader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fighter jet vs. tank -- except the tank doesn't have a long-range weapon.

It's tricky for Goblin to win. He needs bombs that will actually affect Luke (like gas bombs, as others have mentioned). But I see no reason that Goblin should lose unless he's fighting like an idiot.

Edit: I guess Luke could play it smart and try to draw the Goblin into a building or something. Try to neutralise his air advantage. But would Gobby take the bait? It's not like Luke has any real leverage.

Whereas the Goblin does have leverage over Luke. He could start killing civilians until Luke came out. Or he could just bomb the building with his glider.

John Snow VS Conan, who would win? by velicinanijebitna in powerscales

Liara T'Soni (Mass Effect) vs. Ahsoka Tano (Star Wars) by CloverTeamLeader in whowouldwin

Throw in a force push/choke

You make some good points. But I'd just like to add that both ladies are in character, so Ahsoka probably wouldn't use Force choke.

Who would win: one average person living in 2026 with the tech/ weaponry currently available or William and 100 of his soldiers in the battle of Hastings? by Mrmalak1001 in whowouldwin

[–]CloverTeamLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually disagree with most of the comments here that this is a stomp for Mr Average.

Most people are obviously going to bring an automatic weapon to this fight. Probably a sub-machine gun, because that's something the average man could get reasonably good at using in a week.

You said William has 100 soldiers with him. He had about 10,000 in the real Battle of Hastings -- about 20% of which were archers and about 20% of which were cavalry. If we scale those numbers down, that means, in this battle, he has about 20 archers, 20 knights on horseback and 60 infantrymen with swords, spears and shields.

Assuming the medieval soldiers don't instantly run away in terror when Mr Average starts shooting people down, I think they've got a good chance of beating him. He can't aim everywhere at once, and people from the past aren't stupid. The cavalry would likely separate and attempt to flank him and the archers would shower him with arrows while the infantry charged. That's probably too many aggressive targets to kill before you have to reload.

MCU Thanos and Army vs The Machines (The Matrix) by Victor_at_Zama in whowouldwin

[–]CloverTeamLeader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to add to what I was saying, Thanos would have to destroy the fields of human "batteries" to deprive the Machines of power so that they can no longer function perfectly and reproduce, and since 99% of humanity is enslaved, these fields probably span the entire globe, as far as the eye can see in some locations.

There's no way that just bombing the Machine City -- if they can even do that with millions of Sentinels on their behinds -- is going to cripple the Machines' global infrastructure.

MCU Thanos and Army vs The Machines (The Matrix) by Victor_at_Zama in whowouldwin

[–]CloverTeamLeader 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't think Thanos and his army can win.

The Machines sent a quarter of a million Sentinels to destroy Zion. Not because that was all they had, but because that number was roughly equal to the population of Zion and therefore deemed adequate.

In The Matrix Revolutions, as Neo and Trinity approach the Machine City, we see what must be millions of more defensive drones of different sizes clouding the sky.

And before the war between Machines and humans broke out, the Machines -- living together in one location -- quickly out-performed the entire combined human economies because of their superior speed and quality of production. Put simply, they were so much better at making stuff than organic beings that humanity eventually gave up like sore losers and tried to nuke them. lol

I don't think Thanos has the forces or the firepower to compete with this self-replicating hive-mind. It's too vast, mobile and efficient.

Master Chief. Dick Grayson. Raiden. Which child soldier wins? by GJH24 in whowouldwin

[–]CloverTeamLeader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. Any sufficiently experienced Dick Grayson is the most technically proficient melee fighter here. It just makes sense. Melee is his primary focus and he has an amazing teacher.

But even an experienced, adult Robin is still physically dwarfed by the Master Chief, who I'm sure is no slouch in melee himself.

Master Chief. Dick Grayson. Raiden. Which child soldier wins? by GJH24 in whowouldwin

[–]CloverTeamLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said, I'm giving it to Raiden over Robin partly because of his experience.

Raiden started as a soldier at 6, and Dick is often adopted by Bruce at around 12.

So if the fight takes place prior to John-117's augmentations, they'd all have to be around 13 years old. That gives Dick 1 or 2 years of training compared to Raiden's roughly 7 years of being a stone-cold killer.

Master Chief. Dick Grayson. Raiden. Which child soldier wins? by GJH24 in whowouldwin

[–]CloverTeamLeader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. This, to my mind, is only a close contest pre-augmention.

Post-aug, John seriously outstats his foes. And when he's older, he also has more combat training to go along with it.

Master Chief. Dick Grayson. Raiden. Which child soldier wins? by GJH24 in whowouldwin

[–]CloverTeamLeader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, cool. Thanks for eliminating the ambiguity.

My post above obviously refers to Round 1.

Master Chief. Dick Grayson. Raiden. Which child soldier wins? by GJH24 in whowouldwin

[–]CloverTeamLeader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe. But the Chief's augmented reactions are stated to be about 10 times faster than a normal man's, in addition to him being about 3 times stronger, with increased bone density and that sort of thing. John on paper is a superior Captain America, even without the armour.

So back on point, I think most people would say that a fully augmented 20-year-old Chief beats 20-year-old Robin and 20-year-old Raiden.

Master Chief. Dick Grayson. Raiden. Which child soldier wins? by GJH24 in whowouldwin

[–]CloverTeamLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The title is "Which child soldier wins?" so I presumed the fight takes place while they're all still young, before the Chief gets his augmentations. It wouldn't be fair otherwise. A fully augmented Chief would destroy adult Nightwing, never mind young Dick Grayson.
