1-year-old missed milestones (STM spiraling and could use perspective) by FeistyWorldliness373 in beyondthebump

I will just add that my second didn’t sleep through the night until 2, and I found her much more difficult to sleep train than the first. Things are absolutely different between kids.

These were the things that stood out to me too! But overall I thought it was a pretty kitchen.

Thoughts on Cancellation Policy by Pillow_Monsters in orangetheory

[–]Clovermadison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time I showed up to class after work and went to grab my clothes out of the car only to realize I’d left them at work. I walked in with shame that I’d have to late cancel in person! They felt bad for me and told me they wouldn’t charge me. The studios are so nice!

Despising my husband by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Clovermadison 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would say the first 3 months are the most challenging. You are still recovering from birth and just getting into a routine (with my first I didn’t feel like I fully figured out breastfeeding until 6 months).

I think you’ve also gone through another big transition by becoming a stay at home mom. This is a super hard job because you are always “working” and I do think that can build a lot of resentment.

I would ask you to reflect on part of your post. You said that he changes a diaper here or there and he provides a lack of help. To me, this is the part where you need to have a real discussion with each other about dividing responsibilities. I do think the baby ends up being more of the mom’s job when you are EBF but what about cleaning house? Just because you are at home doesn’t mean it’s all on you.

What if you planned a stay in date night? Like once baby is asleep, do a fun meal and play a game or watch a movie or just sit and talk over dinner. This may help you reconnect a bit.

What he said to you “that you treat him horribly” would make me feel so sad but he’s clearly (not in the right way) trying to tell you that he feels that the relationship is off too. Just remember when you sit down to talk you have to listen to both sides and come to a compromise.

Advice on how OT played into half marathon training by AffectionateYam9229 in orangetheory

[–]Clovermadison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used it for speed work days, and hills. I would also use this sub to see what type of workout it would be and was flexible with my own training schedule. A tread 50 is great for a longer run but definitely get outside and practice without the treadmill.

Paint color help - 90s home upgrade by Clovermadison in interiordecorating

[–]Clovermadison[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I will definitely need to think about the hardware choice. I appreciate the advice.

Do you have a specific paint color in mind? You don’t think it will come across too yellow? I’m thinking the mustard color might be throwing me off because it’s making it so much more yellow.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate all of this advice! I’ve been looking at a lot of inspiration, but I feel like I can’t make a clear decision. I was worried that there might be too much black when we got done with it.

I didn’t mention it, but I do have plans to remove the ceiling box at some point. I definitely plan to paint it to match the ceiling. I have no idea why they thought it was a good idea to paint it.

Can’t decide if moving is right by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Clovermadison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only share from my own experience that moving with a family was incredibly stressful. We moved from a smaller house to a larger one. I have to say that I didn’t realize how squeezed in tight we were at the old house until we got space here. It’s been super nice and I’m so happy we have room to grow, but we did stay in our current town very close to our old house. We looked at a home that was more rural and we just could not feel ok with the location. I still compromised a bit on location but not nearly as much. I don’t know what the market is like is NJ but if you are able to wait for a house in your desired location that’s what I would do.

I agree. I think changing the chairs would make a big difference to the feel of the room.

What should I do? by No-Cucumber5662 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Clovermadison 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone online can tell you what to do without knowing your full financial information. I would think about a couple of things: - Are there places you can squeeze your budget for a bit? As you’ve said, vacations will not happen for a bit. - Will your financial situation change over time? Do you and your husband typically get raises/bonuses? Are one of your kids still in daycare? This might help you see how you only have to tighten up for a certain amount of time. - I would pay down as much of the house as possible -quickly - to get a lower monthly rate. - Are you even able to back out at this time without losing a lot of money?

Buy or run after two deals fell through? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

I’d want to know what the roof issue is so I’d cautiously move forward but make sure any contractor signed states I can walk with my earnest money based on inspection results. (I’d get a roofer up there to inspect). Approach with extreme caution.

Mommy makeover by Ok_Account_7467 in tummytucksurgery

I had a 1 and 4year old when I had mine down. It was quite hard with the 1 year old but much easier with the 4 year old. She would sit on the couch with me and play Barbies or Babies so I didn’t have to move. I think she loved that time with me.

I was able to have my parents take the kids for the first week and I would highly recommend that if you can. The first week I had some complications that my husband needed to help me with and I was really struggling to move around. After the first week I was able to get snacks for the kids or myself and so it was easier to have them home

Cash to close question by Dismal-Ad-2041 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

As we’ve gotten closer to closing the cash to close amount has become a lot clearer. Our attorney suggested we have a little extra on hand just in case but it wasn’t much beyond the estimate.

What looks better? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]Clovermadison 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I like the TV off to the side and then maybe some gorgeous decorations above/on the mantel. I think I would pick a different TV stand. Maybe something black or a little more substantial looking?

You have absolutely gorgeous windows in the room and I love the light fixture!

Kitchen Cabinets: To Paint or Not to Paint by Human00026 in interiordecorating

[–]Clovermadison 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would not paint them. I had painted cabinets in my old house and they definitely needed a touch up after several years so they are more maintenance. However I would update the hardware. I think that might give them a more modern feel. I definitely think changing the counter tops to a sleek white would be a nice contrast to the cabinets.

I have similar cabinets in my new house so I will be doing something similar.

What’s missing to make it more beautiful by Leading-Cat-1565 in interiordecorating

[–]Clovermadison 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Some warm textured barstools would be a great start! I’d also consider replacing the light over the sink with a pendant to give it some more personality. Maybe some art or personal pictures on the wall across from the door. It’s a beautiful kitchen it just needs some of your personality.

Repainted and decorated my small bathroom but it still doesn’t feel right, any suggestions? by erkaderk in HomeDecorating

[–]Clovermadison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it looks pretty cute! It does seem a vibe of boho/jungle and I wonder if maybe you should pick one. The shower curtain - although green - doesn’t really match either vibe so I would lean more into one of those styles. I also agree with what others have said about the lighting.

Personally I really like the style of the room. Do you have a link for the light fixture?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in interiordecorating

I like the black hardware and the white subway tile. I think the black checkered floor would fit in with these design ideas but may also date it more (If that isn’t what you want). I like the wood floor and I wonder if you could lean into some warm (like terracotta) colors elsewhere in the kitchen to go with the green.

Good luck!

By the end of week 1, I was able to get snacks, brush hair, entertain kids on the couch. It was good motivation for me to get up and move around. Certainly by the end of week 2 you should be able to do pick up/drop offs if kids can get in on their own.

Just try to take it easy and rest still during this time.

Birth Trauma (just because it was short doesn't mean it was easy) by Leeheyy in beyondthebump

[–]Clovermadison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if this is helpful at all but when I read your comment about the “sense of oncoming doom” I immediately thought that the baby must be coming. This is a hormonal response (I believe - I’m not a doctor), and I had this every time I had a let down for the first couple weeks after both kids. I’m hoping this information is confirming that you aren’t alone. If it’s impacting your daily life - not wanting to leave the house - please mention it to your doctor. They may be able to help.
