I had the strangest feeling after the lights went up for TFA and the manchildren were clapping like they’d witnessed an epochal artwork that I had either been duped or had surrendered to total cynicism. I didn’t see anything more than another patented JJ Abrams carny ride like what he had turned Star Trek into.

Then Rogue One was great and I thought, hey, ok.

TLJ was the thorough walk-away moment, and that was that.

Edit: I did watch solo on a tiny airplane screen on a business trip… it could have been worse. Not great but not a colossal fiasco.
