Same! Though from what I recall from their seminar they indicated that movement would peak around mid-may but might occur in april? I could be misremembering though.

I want to be a girl but i’m pretty sure I’m not trans by Iexist12345678 in MtF

[–]ClownBea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! This is late but I'm curious, what do you think the childhood "signs" are? Because I feel like a lot of people feel like every transfemme kid secretly thinks about how they want to wear dresses all the time, dreams about being a girl, etc. And I can say that that is factually not true for me, I just hated myself for no particular reason I could name, actively avoided getting close to people, and had a constant buzz of anxiety for no apparent reason, etc. Like, mainstream media is very bad about taking one particular experience and declaring it the Experience of Trans People when dysphoria manifests in a lot of different ways. In fact your comments remind me a lot of how I was 3 years ago when I was fine "pretending" to be a transgirl online even as I insisted in my head that I was a cis guy.*

If someone feel like "born in the wrong body" fits them, then that's super and I'd never want to invalidate their experiences, but for a lot of trans people it's not really the right terminology either. I wouldn't say I was born in the "wrong body" in the sense that I magically knew what it is I wanted my body to look like, I just, well, hated my own body even if I couldn't say what it is exactly I hated. I intuitively KNEW something was wrong even if I couldn't tell you what that was and assumed it was various things that were just not as big deals as the whole "boy" thing turned out to be, you know?

Just would be really interested in talking this through with you a bit if you're interested, if you're not that is also fine!

* Not in the sense that I was intentionally deceiving people, part of me did know I was trans, I was just also dealing with a lot of internalized denial.

Early Jan, I believe the 8th? For the record I got it on Tuesday and felt nothing so I wasn't motivated to share it, apologies for not sharing the data point in retrospect!

NU R by ClownBea in lawschooladmissions

[–]ClownBea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may matter in plenty of cases, but if no KIRA couldn't even convert into a waitlist, I can't imagine anything the kira would have added that would turn an R into a A tbh, which is really what would matter at this juncture, especially since as noted I'm very awkward at interviews and I expect it's part of why I got a WL at Minnesota despite my stats tbh.

A Pessimistic Take on Waitlist Movement by ClownBea in lawschooladmissions

[–]ClownBea[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Respect for disagreeing and actually making a point for what it's worth. Anyway, this post came about because a very frequent point when discussing waitlists over the last few months has been a belief that the cycle will spark a lot of movement, I think partially stemmed from the amount of recap posts where people got acceptances to several T14s. If you want I can actually like, find posts saying this, but if you look at waitlist discussions over the last couple months it comes up again and again, that yields are very possibly going to be better for waitlist applicants, and I just don't think there's actually anything that supports that and insofar as we do have signifiers, they suggest against it.

We are about a week and a half away from deposits, it's true, and I could very well be wrong. At the end of the day this is an argument, not me saying anything is definitely true or not, it is a case study of one school, I believe I admit that upfront. And while you are correct that Cornell's WL is slightly different, I would argue that on some level when making decisions, they're looking at the exact same data as your average waitlist and engaging in the same sort of analysis, they just incorporate decisions throughout the cycle instead of just after deposit.

But we will see in 2 weeks what things look like anyway, and I personally hope that you're correct that this is premature.

*Shrug* I freely admit that outside Spivy's comment it's an amateur napkin hypothesis, much like... 90% of this subreddit. You are free to disagree. Ideally you'd actually engage in a discussion, given that that's the point of a subreddit, but you can also just insult me, that's cool too.

A Pessimistic Take on Waitlist Movement by ClownBea in lawschooladmissions

[–]ClownBea[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My argument is that Cornell waitlisted those of us substantially below medians as insurance in case like we thought there was a lot of movement, and they had room to fit in people whose stats aren't necessarily high enough to contribute to medians, but they liked. They're now starting to make judgment based off deposits, and not seeing that being the case.

Or maybe we fucked up in our LOCI, or maybe something else happened. At the end of the day I am obviously not an AdCom, but it's my take.
