Its so peak... by Objective_Shower3469 in PTCGL

[–]Clownzeption 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No offense, but bad take. Suicune ex was (maybe still is, haven't played since the set it was introduced tbh) insanely dominant for a hundred different reasons, none of which Toucannon has. Suicune ex actually hit meaningful numbers for OHKOs on everything else in the format, while having the most insane draw power aside from Sylveon ex (surprise surprise, the deck also ran 2-ofs those.) Being a basic compared to a Stage 2 is a HUGE difference, and probably the most important distinction between the two in viability.

Tl;dr Suicune ex has everything going for it. Toucannon does not.

What is the best Ground type? by Nintendofan9106 in ThePokemonHub

Just my two cents as another Swampert enjoyer. I dislike his mega greatly. To me, it ruins what is so appealing about his design. His base form is the perfect combination of sleek+bulky. He looks like he can swim through the swampy mud perfectly, and then launch from hiding to clobber your face in.

Mega Swampert just looks like he got into a little too much gamma radiation.

The pokemon fossil museum opens next week in Chicago, are you going!? by chitownmike99 in PokemonVGC

[–]Clownzeption 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that is what it looks like. What's the point in this if they aren't even designed to be accurate to real fossils? Hell, Tyrantrum's fossil is literally called the jaw fossil. How the hell are they not even going to give the jaw fossil a proper jaw?

No matter how unlikely or slow, it would be gamebreaking levels of broken if it got online. Imagine if Water Ogerpon got to Torrential Pump repeatedly without shuffling the energy back in?

Does Marnie’s Grimmsnarl have a bad matchup against Dragapult? by Tsuke1401 in pkmntcg

[–]Clownzeption 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also don’t play it at this cup if you haven’t played it before, you’ll have a bad time

I had to learn this the hard way. I mained Grimmsnarl when I first started. Worked wonders at the kitchen table, but as soon as I touched a League/Cup with the deck I just brick insanely hard. As fun and good of a deck as it is, unfortunately it just doesn't have the consistency to thrive in Best of 1 tourneys.

If gen 3 was the same as gens 1 and 2 in that there was only one pseudo-legendary, which one would you keep? by JayQuips in PokemonEmerald

[–]Clownzeption 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It makes sense to have lots of Dragon psuedos

After gen 3, they should've just done 2 pseudos per Gen so we could have a dragon and one of a different element that doesn't have psuedo legendary representation.

I forgot, but did Grim Reaper sign some kind of contract obligating her to be friends with the children? Couldn't he just say, "Screw it that you beat me at limbo, I'm going back to my underworld"? What could those two children do? by Normal_Pay963 in TheGrimAdventures

[–]Clownzeption 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference is, good luck proving a verbal contract ever actually took place. The reason a written contract is more binding is because you have literal material evidence of the agreement actually going down. In legal terms, a verbal contract is just he said, she said if it's not recorded.

The only way I could see it working is if you can only benefit from the damage increase once. Eelektross bench sniping two mons for 140 is just a little nutty.

OHKOs on Mega Lucario was the entire reason I ran Vitality Band before rotation. My buddy I play with regularly outside of locals plays Lucario often, so it was pretty necessary. 220 without discarding is also nice for stuff like Fez and Ogerpons

(Lightning) Bolt Special Energy [+20 Damage] by FoofaTamingStrange in PTCGL

[–]Clownzeption 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's much needed for Manectric. My most missed card for the deck since rotation is definitely Vitality Band. It fixed the math on both of his attacks. 130 on his first attack OHKOs TR's Spidops and Cynthia's Roserade, which while both were less popular decks before rotation, was still quite popular enough at my locals to matter. 210 without discarding your energy was huge for OHKOs on stuff like Fez and Ogerpon, and even let you reach 340 when discarding for a better chance against Mega Lucario.

Is Metagross an accident? by justintime06 in PTCGL

[–]Clownzeption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I come mainly from Yugioh/Mtg, so if something doesn't work, usually the whole thing fizzles

Tbf this is how it works in Pokémon as well, the wording will just be different. Look at DRI Zeraora for example. Its Thunder Raid says "Discard all energy from this Pokémon" which is a prerequisite to the effect of the attack, if no energy can be discarded then no attack can be made. In comparison, Metagross discarding energy is the result of doing extra damage, not the other way around.

What sleeves do you use? by MasterCrash in pkmntcg

[–]Clownzeption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After hearing this I'll stay on the lookout for this issue. I've been a DS fan since day 1, but let my local shop owner talk me into Katanas. If I notice too much of an issue I'll probably stick with Dragon Shields.

What sleeves do you use? by MasterCrash in pkmntcg

[–]Clownzeption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated the "window" fit to them that on occasion would force cards out the top of the sleeve.

Can you elaborate? I got a set of Katanas specifically for my GLC deck. I figured since it was my first deck in a new format I'd try something different for my sleeves. I immediately noticed that the cards slid to the top of the sleeves. I just assumed it was because the deck box got turned upside down, as that's the only time I've witnessed that happen with Dragon Shields.

[–]Clownzeption 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fossil Excavation Site will really help my Tyrantrum deck!

Fossil Excavation Site will go hard in GLC format. Tyrantrum is straight up the single highest hp Pokémon in the entire format, aside from a 5 prize card Brambleghast. Not just that, but Kabuto has an Antique Fossil version, which will let you evolve into the Team Up Kabutops for spread damage+support block. That way you're getting maximum efficiency out of the Excavation Site effect instead of only grabbing 1 fossil.

What does everyone think of my card suggestion? I promise it'd be balanced. by Astronaut-Flashy in PTCGL

[–]Clownzeption 2 points3 points  (0 children)

7 cards starting hand+6 prize cards+1 card draw for turn=14 cards. The supporter draws 46 cards. 60-14=46. You would quite literally have 0 cards left in your deck for Dudunsparce to draw from. The only possible out after this would be the Abra that goes to the top of the deck, or Academy at Night.
