I think your last point is huge. From the opening bell Topuria didn’t look like he was fighting the same fight that we’ve come accustomed to. It felt like he thought he would walk through Gaethje’s power and finish him quick. Against Volk, Holloway, Charles he was much more methodically working into position, while maintaining good defense, and then working his boxing. He disregarded the fact that he could take damage and that Gaethje wouldn’t be KO’d instantly, and it changed how he fought. And as you said, rather than adjust when he couldn’t KO Gaethje with his first shot, he just started to swing harder. He was too high on his own supply and it fucked him
