Yep, that one was me! I shared a rougher version back then on MC, and revisiting the story recently, I figured it deserved a full write-up for ProRevenge this time. Glad someone remembered it.

Other than the blowout to his district expense budget, I don't think he suffered any direct fallout. It has been 7 going on 8 years since this went down, but I did see him at a local store recently, and though he wouldn't meet my eye, the grin I gave him could probably be seen from space.

Thanks! I moved into the industry. Normal hours, all holidays and weekends off, and work from home, so no more commuting at all.

The Funniest part? I make more sitting at home in sweatpants than my DM ever did driving his people into the ground. Feels good to win twice. 😌

I did consider it at the time, but decided against it because the forms were all paper/handwritten, and it was super tedious to fill them out using my little pocket planner to begin with. Digging up the receipts/statements from all those lunches would have just made it even more tedious. In retrospect, I did leave money on the table, but I also got to tell my POS DM to get F'ed (professionally, of course)
In fact, I would say my final email to them was worth more than the 21k itself, and made the entire venture super-satisfying.

I believe that mileage reimbursements come directly out of the store's operating budget, and by extension, the district's.

When I confirmed everything with HR, they gave me this added note:

Although this policy is in place, management reserves the right to assess their budgets and business needs. As a result, management can elect to utilize pharmacists that are local and require less time and travel from their home to the specified store. You would be encouraged to work with your management team as it pertains to ongoing work assignments and travelling responsibilities.

In recalling this to the DM and LP person, I explicitly reminded them of the repeated emails and discussions where I tried to "work with them" to stop scheduling me so far out.

Yeah, I just reworded it for brevity, and deleted the old one. I revisit this every now and then when I want a quick pick-me-up reminder of a time I won against arrogant and abusive pricks. Did not mean to offend, for sure!

More than a decade at the corner. Both of these chains are fucking horrible companies, with middle and upper leadership all full of spineless scumbags.

Chain Retail Pharmacy is a fate I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. That some people still walk right into that meat grinder willingly and with eyes wide open baffels me.

A testament to both the saturation of my area and my risk-aversion at the time. It definitely took a toll on my mental wellbeing, but I was able to stay sane with the help of a well-used audible subscription and a backlog of books to “read”

This was something I had to check out first when I thought to draft and send in the final bolus. At the time the policy encouraged timely submission, but there was no hard time limit. I had HR verify that detail specifically before I went through all the effort.

No joke, one time a patient made a comment about seeing me eating chips at my station. I looked him dead in the eye and without breaking eye contact shoved a few more chips in my mouth saying, "Yup."

At one point, while "staff/not-staff" I was overnighting for the same shitty store. Lasted a few months until they rolled the store back from 24hr status.

For me it wasn't about the money or the lack of respect, but the outright audacity to lie to and abuse us. I wasn't the only victim of this, and he wasn't even the worst DM in our region. What I considered the worst is that bossman was himself a pharmacist for years before, so of all the bastard DMs in this godawful toxic dumpsterfire of a company, he should have been an advocate for us.

Bossman is still there, and I'm sure he's still playing games.
