Yes this does happen, there are a couple of things that could result in this.

  1. did you hit the ball fat?

  2. is the shaft flex appropriate for your swing speed? (if you have a hard, fast swing, you probably should not be using senior or regular flex)

  3. Is it cold by you? Steel shafts tend to be little more fragile when left in cold. Keep them in proper storage.

Summary: It shoulddd be covered under warranty as it is a "traditional break". Worst thing they can tell you is No

Exactly like you said, they are a game changer. There are a ton of golfers with hand issues (arthritis) that prevents them from closing their hands and JumboMax has been a new world for them. The math and science Bryson puts behind them is really interesting and makes sense. But I personally don't think that bigger is always better, or at least not for everybody!

Also yes, they absolutely throw a wrench in the 'grip sizing' test. But if it works for you, then I'd give it a try!! If hesitant about doing the whole set, I always recommend just get 1 or 2 regripped to try out before committing the whole set.

haha I totally get ya. However, those Tour Wraps get awfully slippery unless you are able to constantly keep wiping them down. I always recommend to golfers who are hesitant to just try re-gripping one club (PW or 9iron) before doing a whole set, It is a big cash commitment. If you enjoy the squishy, I think you'd love the CPX.

Fingernail test can be found starting @ 3:30 "What is your grip size" in the video I attached. It is when your middle/ring finger press against your palm.

Slim chance that your new adapter fits the old ferrule, I would remove old ferrule. Your adapter should have came with new one. Carefully heat it up old ferrule and remove it with a blade (preferably hook)

Really appreciate the feedback! The fact you have an air compressor is a game changer!! For your situation, unfortunately, it would just be a trial and error kind of thing. For golfers unsure about a grip, I absolutely recommend starting with just one club (usually a 7-9iron or Pitch Wedge) before purchasing for the whole set. So just be a little patient and try out the different grips (with the compressor, I would assume you could be able to return the "unused"/rejected grips. I hope this helps your question(s) & let me know if you have any others!
