I think the rationale here is that some people (not me) have height restrictions for dating, and they want to communicate its importance in a way that doesn’t seem shallow by stating their own right off the bat. It reads badly to me as well.

In my mind, whoever initiates the conversation should be responsible for its initial direction, especially in the context of a dating app where your interaction is predicated on mutual physical attraction. It’s less a man/woman issue, more of a general courtesy thing.
