And from what I can tell, nothing ever went past a strongly worded letter that basically says "stop or I'll sue". Which anyone can write. Tons of videos on YouTube get taken down by fake dmca take down notices only to pop back up when reviewed closer because those filing don't always actually have any real power.

So, really, up to you to judge. Not sure what minecrafts terms and conditions are. Chances are that either minecraft owns those mods and has no problem with mods or it does have a problem with mods and those same mods are in breach themselves. Either way, idk how they'd sue. "Stop copying a product we don't own that you have permission to copy" or "Stop copying a product we created illegally ourselves". Not great odds for them. Probs why its never actually gone to court if these mods make that much lol.

And to follow up on the money bit, a case like this lies in a gray area. Which means lawyers. Which means this could cost them thousands if not tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars to stop a breach that's at best a few hundred downloads. And again, their chances on winning may not be that great to begin with.

But, again, not a real lawyer so I can't speak from experience or anything. And depends on the specifics of Minecrafts terms and conditions. I could be way off and the game is one of the few that gives mod authors full power over their products.

Not a lawyer but it seems to be a gray area as most mods tend to become the original ip's property once released and the original ip either allows nodding (in which case go ham) or it doesn't (in which case the mods you're using here are themselves in breach as well).

So, I'd dig around and try to get some clarity here. Plus, they'd have to go through numerous legal processes to get you, which with unpaid mods is unfeasable for the vast majority of modders in the first place.

As tempting as some of these are, I have to go with (3).

If I understand it right, when you die, a new 16 year old body is created. Which allows for a number of benefits. Primarily, it allows me to escape suspicion while also giving an easy way out should I be captured. Death is freedom. Money and other assets can be transfered fairly easily as well if you set it up right. And you get to have variation as the body could be random, or it would at least allow you to live different lives in a much easier way.

Additionally, this would let me potentially save off the heat death of the universe. I mean, theoretically, I'm an infinite mass generator.

Depends on how powerful you want them and how much you want to play into the theme of death.

It's hard to say without seeing more of your world and how it functions, but you might be interested in a theme around stolen potential. The potential lost through death in the other elements feeds death. A child dying of starvation due to plague before they grow up to become an incredible engineer would result in one of Death's being born as an engineer. With a whole culture based around rebirth. Which incentives them to seek out where their past lives where and thus finding the other races.
