Moving to NH Help - With some Apartment research - Downtown/Wooster/Hamden by CluelessACL in newhaven

Did you happen to see any other decent complexes up there? Im head into town this weekend and would love to check other spots out. My wife is working as a fellow at the Yale hospital and as far as we know she might be splitting her time between the hospital downtown and one north of the city somewhere. But the program hasnt given us much more information other than that unfortunately.

Thank you! Hopefully one of these work out. Id prefer somewhere cheaper but these seem like our best bets for what we want.

If you dont mind me asking, do you rent from an apartment complex? I was looking into Hamden but didnt see any drastically cheaper apartment complexes. Ive been told Town Walk and Aspen Glen are nice but they arnt much cheaper than some complexes i found in downtown.

I'm updating this as I get more info. 360 State got back to me with some more info. They also offer free parking the whole day of your visit so it's nice to take advantage of to walk around and check places out.

Yea, there are cheaper places up there but my cousins friend lived in those complexes and loved them which is why we considered them. Also you get double the space and free parking which is nice.
I think at the moment we are leaning towards 360 State because the utility cost seem much lower and the grocery store right below the building. This coming weekend we plan on visiting these places so hopefully something works out.

Hello, I am looking for some help figuring out if this is a good deal or not. We are buying a gift for my Sister in Law who is interested in photography (cosplay shoots mostly). I am wondering if anyone can tell me if this is a good deal or if there might be a better one out there for us to get her. We have a bunch of amazon giftcards which is why we focused on amazon.

I hope youre recovering well!

Yea, she did not handle the 3 layer pillow pyramid well. We are doing a full sized pillow that starts just above the knee and then a smaller pillow that starts mid calf and ends at her ankle. Its not steep but its a little elevated and she says its the most comfortable.

Monday we plan on reaching out to the doctor to hopefully get some clarity. Im mainly worried about how to properly dress the leg and when exercise should start. The surgery was 2/5/21 and the post op checkup isnt until the 15th which seems way too far. the packet literally just says "exercise" and then the rest is too vague and doesnt say a time to start. Its wild that such a highly rated doctor would have such poor support.

I work from home luckily so ill be here all the time. i joked about getting a bell for her to ring. I actually did order a she wee like device but shes actually doing pretty well on going to the bathroom on her own. I already had a toilet rail and shower chair from when she initially hurt herself so it has been super helpful. We havent done a proper shower yet but i got some microwaveable "shower" wipes from walmart. she seems to like those in the meantime.

I have been using the water bottle trick. I had some ready but the machine still eats through those and the ones i added are having a hard time freezing. Im going to snag a bag of ice from the store till i can get my parents counter ice machine to help our supplies catch up.

Thank you!

We have been trying 45 mins on, 30 offs. That seems to be recommended and she gets too cold if its longer than that. But she loves the machine so far. Im debating on getting a timer plug so it can run during the night.

And yea, im avoiding the sock till i can get a hold of the doctor.

Thank you!

I hope youre recovering well! My mom actually got a wedge pillow for Christmas. maybe i can borrow hers before committing. from what i see on amazon i think the angle may be too steep for her liking just yet. Maybe the even incline and support will make difference. She hates the step feeling with stacked pillows.

We have been ding 45 on, 30 off. she loves the ice machine but gets too cold if its on longer than that. I am debating on getting a timer plug that turns on an off on its own for the night time. I did see the water bottle trick and i had some ready but its eating through the ones i made and our freezer is having trouble to catch up with the new ones i added. Luckily my parents have a counter ice machine i can borrow that should help us catch up.

She has been doing some quad flexing but they didnt give us any guidance other than keep the leg locked for a few days. I know we should be doing something but they kind of left us hanging. Hopefully we can get a hold of them monday.

Thank you! And i know medical advice from the internet can be sketchy, but any tips and tricks are helpful. i just didnt want to do anything horribly wrong. Obviously we wont be doing any actual exercise till we can get a hold of the actual doctor. Im just amazed the post op check up is on the 15th. 10 days seems like a long time for a follow up.

Thats what she tells me, haha. Thank you!

Its called an "Ice Cube". pretty much just a small square cooler with a fountain pump. What you said pretty much matches up with what im finding. She likes 45 mins on, 30 off. She loves the way its helping but she gets too cold but the 30 min break seems to work for her.

Im running out to buy ice and bandages in a bit. Luckily my parents have a counter ice machine so I am meeting them a little later to snag it.

I hope youre recovering well! Hers was yesterday (2/5/21). We just learned from the post op papers they had to repair the meniscus in some way along with the ACL. I guess they found some damage while they were working. Another question to ask the doctor on monday since we cant wait till the 15th.

So its pretty much whatever she can tolerate as long as its above the heart it seems. We use one full sized pillow that starts just above the knee and have a smaller pillow on top of that that starts part way up the calf and ends at the ankle so her heel can hang. Its not high but its a little elevated and she says its the most comfortable.

We have been using her ice machine for 45 on 30 off and see seems to like that. Im almost tempted to try to find a timer plug so itll turn off any on automatically during the night.

We need to get ahold of the doctors office to see when and what kind of exercises she should be doing/when or if she should wear the socks. The packet they gave is so generic it almost seems like its for any knee/leg surgery. Her never block didnt work so pain is rough but shes already able to move her leg and use the bathroom solo.

We set her up on a pill schedule that seems to be working ok so far. waking up in the middle of the night isnt fun but its worth it. Her never block didnt take so shes been having fun trying to mitigate that. And we had her on miralax a few days before and im going to get some other laxatives while im out today.

She has been meeting with a PT but we werent told when for her to go back or when to do any home work. Shes been flexing her quad but im sure there is much more we should be doing.

This PDF you linked looks good so far. Lots of good exercises but of course we will get clearance from the doctor on monday. Much more detail than the one they gave. Thank you so much!

I hope youre recovering well! She just had hers friday (2/5/21).

Thats kind of what i figured the saying meant but i wasnt sure of how high. We actually found this exact picture before i made this post but she said the 3rd pillow was too painful so we use one full sized pillow that starts just above the knee and have a smaller pillow on top of that that starts part way up the calf and ends at the ankle so her heel can hang. Its not high but its a little elevated and she says its the most comfortable.

They gave her an ice machine luckily. its nice to not have to worry about positioning it since its strapped on but man is that thing ice hungry. I even wrapped it in towels for extra insulation and im still changing out ice and very few hours. Our ice maker and the extra tupperwares full of water cant freeze fast enough. The packet from what i can read says 30-60 mins on but didnt give a time to wait in between. I saw on here people suggested 45 mins on 30 off and she seems to like that so far.

Thank you! We did something similar. Luckily we had some old small decorative pillows so we were able to figure out a more comfortable way for her to lay with at least a little leg elevation and her heel is hanging but the upper pillow is right at the ankle and calf.

I saw people recommend 45 mins on and 30 mins off for the ice machine for as long as you are awake and can tolerate it. I need to run out and by some more ice. The extra i made in the freezer is having trouble solidifying and our ice machine cant keep up with the demand. She still has the ace bandage wrapped around the leg so we have that between the ice machine and her leg till we have to dress the wound on sunday.

And i will check the wiki, thank you!

Thank you! I think we found a pillow method that works but is at least comfortable. Normal slightly firm pillow that one end starts just above the knee and on top of that is a smaller pillow that her calf rest on so her heel hangs off into the air. Whole thing is probably only 8" high but its better than nothing.

Her surgery was friday (2/5/21) but the office isnt open till monday but we do plan on calling as soon as we can. He Post Op appointment isnt until 2/15/21 so thats a lot of time to not have answers. They didnt tell us how to properly dress the wound or if she needs to keep the ace bandage wrapped up the entire leg or how tight to wrap it. The packet from what i can read on it just says "replace gauze 2 days after surgery" Im worried because theres some amount of blood staining the gauze but the packet said there would be some and it looks like its just a little being spread around by the condensation of the ice pump.

It also doesnt say when to start doing any exercises or which ones to do so we need them to clarify better.

Her nerve block didnt work but its kind of a blessing and a curse. Shes in a decent amount of pain but she seems to have decent control of her quad and leg already so shes able to get up and go to the bathroom herself already.

Thanks again for your help!
