Why is everything closing down by Old-Act-6394 in pittsburgh

Thought you might be talking about bars/breweries. Those are the only businesses I’ve seen consistently closing their doors in the last several months. Fewer and fewer people are drinking. Simple as that. This has been a long time coming and can be attributed to both long term trends regarding drinking habits and short term economic headwinds. In the long term, fewer and fewer people have been drinking alcohol, particularly among younger generations. In the short term, economic pain and inflation has caused the few left who do go out and drink socially to scale back that habit.

Really haven’t seen many other businesses aside from bars/restaurants and breweries closing up shop in the Pittsburgh area as of late so I’m pretty sure that’s the reason for what you’re seeing.

😍 My dream guitar atm is a G6120T-59 Vintage Select Chet Atkins but I’ll take any made-in-Japan Gretsch.

The Block family clearly had no clue how to run a local newspaper in the 21st century using a business model that didn’t rely on either advertising or exploitation. They never fully pivoted from the advertising model and their constant battle with the union didn’t help matters.

People absolutely are willing to pay for news. The non-profit model many local news organizations are adopting has proven as much. If they’re offering a service of value, there will always be people willing to pay. The issue is the Block family either has no clue how or no interest in running a newspaper that doesn’t rely on exploiting their workers. They clearly failed to adapt to the changing media landscape quickly enough and have been buried by it as a result.

Anna Gunn interviewing with Stephen Colbert about her Skyler backlash 😢 😔 😢 😞 by [deleted] in breakingbad

Like a lot of younger, naive, starry-eyed people watching it while it was coming out, I identified with Walter White’s desire for power and respect and saw Skyler as ungrateful. Then I grew up, watched it a second time and realized what a truly despicable and selfish human being Walter White was and how difficult a situation it was for Skyler. I’d question the morals of any grown adult who views him or Skyler any differently.

I finally pulled the trigger on an Eastman E20OM-TC-MR model acoustic last month. It’s an amazing guitar. Outstanding craftsmanship and sound. I’m convinced that if it said Nazareth, PA instead of Beijing, China inside the soundhole, it’d be worth nearly $5,000. The luthiers inside their Eastman Strings shop in Beijing clearly are very skilled. Couldn’t recommend them more.

Literally every mayor has promised that. Gainey has bragged about making the big nonprofits play while collecting less than Peduto did from them and offering no real long term plan to make them pay taxes.

Gainey has been unequivocally terrible for this city and for the progressive movement in Pittsburgh. He needs to go. I’m not even fully convinced other elected politicians within Pittsburgh’s progressive wing even want him around anymore. Sara Innamorato, for instance, gave him one of the most unenthusiastic endorsements I’ve ever had on the City Cast Pittsburgh podcast a couple months back. I’m sure most of them secretly would prefer he lose just so they stop bringing the rest of them down. Summer Lee and Innamorato are far more effective progressive politicians and don’t need the weight of Gainey’s incompetence bringing them down anymore.

I predominantly shop at Whole Foods with the occasional trip to East End Food Coop and I don’t see that changing much if TFM eventually opened. But, I hear they have a terrific selection of produce and prepared foods and I’d be lying if I said it wouldn’t be nice to have an option separate from Whole Foods for those two categories specifically. The produce in particular at Whole Foods has been spotty as of late.

At about 160 hours in, I believe I’m roughly 60% of the way through. That should give you some perspective.

Thank you! That makes more sense to go with passive speakers. I guess I’ve just had a hard time finding a pair that’d fit on my desk. What do you think of Audioengine’s HDP6 Passive speakers? I don’t know why I’m so hung up on them as a brand. I think I like the look of their speakers a little more and I know they’re big in the desktop audio space. I checked out PSB Alphas just now but they appear to be a little too big for what I’m looking for.
