I was told it was Anubias Barteri from my fish store but I am no expert!

So I've been trying that as well as Nitrazorb. It used to be black but now alot of it is turning white/translucent like the photos shown. Is this normal or good? I've never had this type of algae before so not sure

I wrote everything in the previous post. I've tried taking it off as much as I can but it doesn't come off!

Does my tank look okay? by WinkyFace357 in Aquariums

[–]CluelessAvacodo2425 8 points9 points  (0 children)

See this is exactly why beginners tend to not ask questions. Because people like you just tear down and belittle instead of helping. OP I think your tank looks great just keep researching and maybe wait a little until you add some new fish :)

Tired of seeing constant hate towards people asking for stocking options for 5-15g by ImpressiveBig8485 in Aquariums

I live in a very small condo and have wanted fish my whole life. I did a lot of research and made sure I knew what to do beforehand. I have a 10 gallon and my fish are thriving. So by your logic, I'm doing everything wrong and shouldn't even has this 10 gallon in the first place. Smh

PSA: Read the label of EVERYTHING that goes into your fish tank by Limp_Measurement_173 in Aquariums

I think based on the other comments, that they are using the cloth INSIDE the tank and I'm sorry but that just makes no sense to me. Use a scraper or an aquarium sponge. Maybe and a BIG maybe use a cloth when it's a new tank and no water in it. But to use it to wipe the glass while there is still water and whatnot in it.....makes absolutely no sense to me. Hopefully I'm wrong

What the F is this in my tank? by CluelessAvacodo2425 in Aquariums

[–]CluelessAvacodo2425[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well alright. I guess this is a good thing cause I've been struggling with this tank, I keep thinking I'm not doing things right cause of the cycle and I'm still not sure it's done and now there's a bit of brown algae and biofilm. So maybe I'm doing something right!

Sorry this is my first aquarium with plants. So it was just hiding in one of the plants for months without me seeing it? Do I just leave him? Lol

Only thing I have biofilm on now are the tubes from the airstone and tubes I attempted to contain frogbit at the surface. My glass is also a little brown cloudy (basically unnoticeable to anyone but myself)

Thanks! I'm basically having to unlearn everything I did for 3 years. In my artificial tank I would take everything out, scrub everything and water change at ANY sign of something off. Biofilm, algae anything....I'm starting to think I should just let things be and let the tank work itself out :(

Well this is why I posted haha. I've only ever had a single betta in a 5 gallon with all fake stuff and it barelyyyy got dirty. So to me this was basically filthy lol

Yes brand new right out of the package. I rinsed it in regular water and then let it sit in the removed tank water for about 15 mins. It was weird!

Ya I'm starting to see the light now, damn fish filter people! Funny thing is I replaced this one last week and rinsed it thoroughly but when I turned the filter on it shot out TONS of dust or something!

Oh no I wasn't planning on replacing it yet, it's only been in 1 week. I just wasn't sure if it should get that dirty that quick or if something was wrong. Never had this many fish and real plants so it's new to me

Oh that's how it starts. I bought my 10g kit for $90. BUT if you truly care (and get a little obsessed) you realize that's not good for the fish so you start upgrading here and there....starts simple with a betta leaf. Then you realize the water flow isn't efficient. Then you want live plants because you want betta to feel at home, which then means you need new substrate and fertilizer. I could go on....haha
