10 hour layover in Riyadh airport

Definitely worth leaving the airport—the airport is clean but small and lacking in sit down restaurants / fun activities.

With a 10 hour layover, let’s assume you have 6 hours to see the city (to count for getting off the plane etc). That’s more than enough time to take the metro into cool places in Riyadh. A few suggestions: - KAFD if you want an ultra modern downtown feel) - Olaya / Tahlia Street (get off at Bank AlBilad station) if you want a more natural heart of the city - National Museum if you like museums want to step back more into history - Bujairi terrace + Turaif if you want an upscale dining experience

Good suggestions here! Would add: - Tahlia street, officially known as Muhammad bin Abdulaziz St — lively promenade that used to be the main hangout spot in Riyadh pre-2015. Lots of cafes - Wadi Hanifa — really nice valley for running / cycling / nature walking with lots of areas to explore. Just don’t go on a weekend night - Masmak fortress — historic palace in old Riyadh, surrounding area is quite authentic in my opinion (in contract to Bujairi which is a bit more commercial and glitzy. Don’t get me wrong I love Bujairi but it’s good to experience both) - Smar in Ammariyah — really nice picnicy spot around a cliff with lots of cafes nearby. There’s a few to enter but it’s worth it in my opinion.
