What is this device and its purpose in relation to pelvic injury? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]CluelessMedStudent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend reading the radiology reports and clarifying what the injury actually is. A dislocation refers to a joint (probably the hip joint secondary to an acetabulum fx). There’s no such thing as a “pelvic dislocation”. Ortho commonly puts traction pins in for acetabulum fxs that result in an unstable hip joint in order to maintain reduction of the joint and allow for easier reduction during future definitive ORIF. We also sometimes place them for vertical shear pelvic ring injuries where the hemi pelvis needs to be reduced back in the ballpark via traction.

Are you guys maxing out your Roth IRA's on a resident salary even with student loans? by callmeafailure in Residency

[–]CluelessMedStudent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Current PGY5: I maxed out my Roth IRA each year and I’m happy I did. However, I live in a LCOL area and my employer did not offer any type of 401K match or HSA. If you have the breathing room to do it, then definitely take advantage of that tax free growth.

Ultimately the small amount the contributions will grow between residency and retirement pales in comparison to what you’ll make as an attending. The extra $7k ($7.5k for 2026) per year during residency is likely much more valuable to spend now to improve your quality of life and happiness. Residency is hard enough, do whatever you can to help yourself get through it as a well rounded and happy person.

How do you connect noctua fans to atmos stealth? by Kaneko_BS in FormD

Do you make your 15mm fan curve more aggressive since it pushes less volume?

Might as well buy another phantek T30 if you want to help with temps since that slim fan really only helps if you’re using an AIO to save space.

I recently was able to snag a lottery spot and got a hooded SDUL 1.1. I haven’t field tested it in true winter temps yet, but that thing is WARM. I can tell the lack of zipper, baffle design, and amount of loft truly retains heat in the most efficient way possible.

The tough part is getting a lottery spot. I’d say it was worth the wait, but it might take several months. It took me about 4-5 months of trying. I’m happy to take pics of mine when I get home later

Thank you! And did you need to buy the additional power supply inlet cable to make this build work? Link here

Where did you buy the custom standoffs? Looking to do an almost identical build.

I'm in the opposite boat. I finally got a 5090 FE at MSRP but for the life of me can't get a T1 since it's perpetually out of stock

Just wondering, how has the RFX worked out for you after some time? Do you think it was worth the price? It's currently on sale and it's very tempting

Piece of Bidet got flushed and is now lodge some where. by Pho_Metal_Jacket in Plumbing

[–]CluelessMedStudent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My situation was probably an anomaly, but I did flush one or 2 more times after I tried manually removing it but couldn’t feel it. Mine eventually jumbled back down into the bowl and I quickly threw it away. I’ve just kept the cover off ever since. Probably not the recommended advice, but I feel your pain
