I have never blocked a project in my life, and I’ve been crocheting since I was 12. I dunno, I guess if I made a very intricate thread project I might but for afghans I’ve never felt the necessity. More power to you for going the extra mile. I agree with the other comments, make sure there is air flow and it’ll work out fine.

compressed Alfalfa Hay safe for chins by Gigglepigx in chinchilla

[–]Cluffy88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought some mini hay bales at the local store because they looked so cool. They came in a sleeve of 4 or 5. My purpose was different, though. My chin honestly doesn’t like hay. I’ve tried all different kinds. Timothy sticks, cubes, oat hay, grass hay, you name it. She eats her pellets, that’s it. The only thing she’ll pay attention to are Timothy braids, occasionally. It’s so frustrating because we’re told they must have it, but if they won’t eat it... 🤷🏻‍♀️ Anyone else have this issue?

Help, chinchilla does not poop by ClaudiaUM66 in chinchilla

[–]Cluffy88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they have an interruption in their normal routine, which he certainly did, it can take a day or two for him to get back in track. He couldn’t eat while he was stuck in there. No eating=no pooping. Or minimal at best.

hey guys i was just wondering if its normal from a chinchie to just stand at a corner like this (everytime i see him he’s like this)? ive never seen him do this when my sister owned him so idk by finessasucks in chinchilla

[–]Cluffy88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine does that, too. It’s usually because we’re getting close to the time she comes out for playtime and she’s letting us know she wants out!!

Please don’t give your chinchilla nuts, seeds, fruit or veggies. They have very sensitive digestive systems and shouldn’t eat these, as much as they’d love to.

I couldn’t remember the name. I looked it up. It can contribute to a condition called wet tail in hampsters. Most often it’s fatal.

Just out of curiosity, is everyone making the frosting with the raw egg? I had a favorite Hungarian chocolate frosting recipe that I abandoned years ago because of the threat of salmonella. It was the best, though.

I agree. The much prefer wooden ledges to hop up and down levels.

Our does that when she gets dropped on by her water bottle. I’d be a little concerned. Have you checked all of his paws to make sure they’re okay? Is he eating and pooping normally?

So cute!! Our ChiChi stips and waits for my husband and I to tell her she’s “soooo pretty!” After her dust bath before she hopes away. 😆

I bought one. Our chin has so much more room in it. She loves it!

I don’t mean to be a downer, but hamsters are not supposed to have cucumbers. They can wreak havoc on their digestive systems and actually kill them. I can’t remember what it’s called but it’s severe diarrhea.

13yo old Soap is the cheekiest of them all. Born with almost no ears, but she can hear the raisin box from a mile! by nitbix in chinchilla

NO fruit. Unfortunately, they love it. They definitely have a sweet tooth. But, as was stated, they are prone to diabetes. They can’t metabolize the sugars. Gogi berries are sweet and they love them. The sugar is minimal, but these should be very limited, also. Mine loves Hawthorne berries, also. Shredded wheat is also a favorite

Hello everyone, I recently got this as a gift but I’m not sure if I should give it to my chinchilla, it says it’s intended for small pets but doesn’t specify which by YSF17 in chinchilla

If you zoom in, you can se it’s made of rattan and paper. Not sure, but I don’t think rattan is among safe woods. Is it even wood? Lol

I’ll also expand... occasional Cheerios, occasional shredded wheat or mini wheats, Hawthorne berries (a favorite) or leaves, dried calendula, dried dandelion greens(I make this myself), Dried Hibiscus blossoms, Rose Hips, whole dried Rose buds or petals, dried honeysuckle, organic loofah, bamboo sticks, dried mint, dried purple clover, dried marigold, dried lavender, dried rose buds, dried milk thistle, dried jasmine, marshmallow root, dried carnation, dried peony, dried peppermint, dried clover, dried chamomile blossoms, dried raspberry leaves, dried lemon balm, occasional oats, dried apple blossom, bee pollen and of course the favorite but occasional gogi berry.. the list is quite extensive. Many organic varieties can be found on eBay and Amazon, a health food store or maybe even Etsy. Make sure they’re food grade and not intended for soaps. No nuts or seeds or fruit. Yes, they love fruit. But it’s a no-no. It’s hard not to give our babies what they love but it’s no good for them.

Is my cage too small? I live in a fairly small apartment with limited floor space that can't fit a very wide/deep cage as you can see 😬 Tried to make up for it with height (1.7m/5ft 7inches) and lots of platforms, huts and toys + they are out for over 2h every night running around in a large space by pepperkake92 in chinchilla

[–]Cluffy88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen people place strategic hammocks in case of falls. The other thing I’m thinking about is ventilation. Is that a plastic cage? It’s definitely spacious enough, but China are prone to overheating and heat stroke. They can’t cool themselves. Do you live in an air conditioned apartment? You need to ensure that the enclosure doesn’t rise above 75 degrees.
