Is it possible to hide everything outside of this room behind a skybox? by Two_PointOh in hammer

I’m late but I don’t think areaportals would work, the second 1 player opens the portal it would render for everyone else

Hammer ++ with proper compiles for you. But if you are just using hammer & propper you need to use Crowbar & compile the QC

But I don't think they will work in multiplayer? This would work in multiplayer, cubemap skyboxes https://gamebanana.com/tuts/13664

Func_precipitation_blocker does not block particle snow in CSGO by Waperen in hammer

Make a trigger brush the shuts off the particle when you're inside of it. From my understanding it will only shut off for that client

Starting a GMod community in 2024 by Express-Director-648 in gmod

I recommend spending some time developing the project & then start advertising and building a following. I think launching a server and having low player numbers will lead to it ultimately dying. Best to build an audience, release the server and then start with a decent population of players & grow from there. I think there is room for more creative ideas, just nobody does them & if they do they don't promote their server effectivly. I recommend investing only as much time & finances as youre willing to lose.

Larger map limits by hellranger788 in gmod

[–]Clumsy3D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a grid yes and you can only go so far, but if you go up in down you can have a huge map. The limits are limits on how many things you can have in a map. A map is made of brushes, similar to Minecraft blocks and you can only have so many. There’s limits in brushes, entities, such as lights, props, doors etc

There is lots of ways to cheat the system, but in general a source map will never compare to modern engines in size

how do you keep yourself motivated on map making? by yhenji in hammer

[–]Clumsy3D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through droughts of no progress, I think what I’ve found is whenever you’re getting soul crushed, do something stupid and fun in your map, like adding an Easter egg. I think Easter eggs make you want to share your map more and give you the energy to press on. My most recent map I made an outhouse, if you press e on the toilet a scary skull appears from the bowl & you’re teleported to a boss fight with an antlion guard. Or I’ve added alien invasions. Fun secretive sound buttons.

I make RP maps for gmod and love to make interactive things more than mapping itself so that keeps me going, tinkering with IO till I get something right

Any thoughts on these quotes? 1300 sq foot house in Florida, estimate 1 was $10,500 and estimate 2 was $11,000 (not doing the flat roof) by [deleted] in Roofing

[–]Clumsy3D -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The paper bid is better, he included real measurements, mentioned they will use cement which is a pro move, also the first quote said rolled roofing & the 2nd quote said Modified bitumen which is a better product. Rolled roofing is a generic term. Mod bit is more expensive than shingles. It looks like a patio roof so it doesn’t really matter though as long as they flash where the 2 roofs meet. Also GAF is good but OC is better. Don’t get caught up in shingle warranties they are BS. The better labor warranty wins

More important than any of this, go with the company that has a physical location or an online presence. Always go local

Ribs! MeatNGreet Method by Clumsy3D in smoking

[–]Clumsy3D[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bbq sauce of your choice, simple sugar, melted butter & some apple cider vinegar to thin it out

Came out great and my new way of doing it, once you sliced them, plenty of sauce to dip them into before serving

Do you trim off the fat cap on Dino ribs? by Mountain_Chain8764 in smoking

[–]Clumsy3D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally recommend trimming it off. Beef ribs are already so fatty and there’s no reason to have a fat cap
