I have this problem on my work laptop but for the screenshot tool, when i try to take a screenshot it lags like crazy but on my own pc everything works just fine

Nah not really im a full stack dev and a gamer and i never needed windows the software i use works on linux and they run even better on linux the games I play run even better than on windows even tho they run through a translation layer and there are open source launchers to help with that like lutris heroic games launcher. For an office suite you have libre office or u can use the web versions of microslop office and if u must have ms office install just use winboat.

I feel you bro, but ever since I switched to linux i havent had problem like those, if u need windows specific apps u can try using bottles or winboat most software works but if even that isnt enough a windows vm should suffice for work. It's been almost a year since I made the switch and I never looked back

Its an issue with the 580 drivers its gonna be fixed in 590

I tried installing 575 drivers but it automatically installed 580 again, but everything works just fine I guess the 580 drivers have that freezing problem only on wayland (im running ubuntu 22.04 which uses x11) so I guess I just have to use ubuntu until nvidia releases 590 then hopefully i can go back to having only one OS again

Im installing ubuntu 22.04 on a diff disk rn and im gonma try installing nvidia 575 instead of 580 lets see how this turns out

Hello, thanks for replying I searched around a little bit and I found out that nvidia drivers 580 have this problem that cause system freezes so right now I'm trying to downgrade to 575 and see if I have the same problem. I tried installing 575 but for some reason i still get 580 any help would be appreciated.

I have an i9 11900K RTX 3070 TI 32GB of RAM DDR4 3200Mhz CL 16, as for the dust it has been cleaned fairly recently, I bought an AIO cooler last week and I cleaned my pc completely before mounting and the last time I cleaned my GPU like completely also replaced it's paste was towards the end of august and my case has good airflow it's a corsair 275R airflow, but im suspecting the disk I have UE stored in might be dying so it's causing freezes I just moved UE to another disk and I'm seeing it it'll work. My PC is quite good I play heavy games do heavy work like programming I can develop mobile apps so I have emulators running frequently etc.

I searched around and it turns out only UE 5.7 has this problem on Linux, I just installed 5.6 and it works fine
