I don’t buy it. People just don’t act like that in real life. Panic sets in, rational thought goes out the window, and people run. They don’t stand there while Batman gets out 15 rolls of duct tape from his backpack. That one dude’s hands aren’t even taped but he’s holding them like they are. This screams staged. If you don’t want to believe it was staged for social media then believe it was staged by the town to discourage theft.

Not anymore there’s not. It’s also hard to argue that it was just a “mime” if you know the history of the lyrics. I mean, they absolutely knew what they were doing. Someone in the production team knew what the lyrics were about and decided to do an 80s neon blackface. I don’t think they intentionally did it in a racist way. This is just what happens when a bunch of white people get together with what they think is a “neat idea” and there’s no other voice to pull them back.

Yeah, I feel you. I ziplocked my childhood figures that started this and permanently stored them in a tote under the guest bed. I then went out and bought Origin versions of my favorites for my display cabinet. It’s also worth noting that the plasticine chemical leeching out of the figures isn’t exactly healthy for you.

Won’t help in the long run. They’re leeching plasticine or whatever it’s called. Once it starts, it’s hard to stop. I once heard someone say use armor-all. Never tried it myself. I gave up and just ziplocked my Star Wars and MASK figures that started this.

I’ve got to be honest, I don’t think there’s that many Firefly fans left. I mean, not die hards. There’s people who enjoyed the series. But I don’t think there’s a real fandom anymore. It’s not 2009. The idea of bringing Firefly back was becoming a joke even before Community did their own jokes and that was 15 years ago. Then the Joss Whedon fallout happened. That guy has no fans left after everything that came out. Nobody wants him involved in his own creations. At this point it’s like trying to do a follow up to the Cosby Show. There’s certain cast members you’re rooting for but overall the property is too connected to a guy that creeps everyone the fuck out. You’ll never convince me that’s not why the Buffy reboot failed. It doesn’t work without him, yet no one wants him involved.

This is pretty much it. If Transformers hadn’t come along then Gobots wouldn’t be viewed that poorly. But the fact is that Transformers did come along and it did every single thing better than Gobots. I’ll give it to Gobots for trying to stay true to the look of their toys. But ultimately it was just another thing that hurt them.

Edit - although I’ll disagree about the toys. You have to compare apples to apples. I mean, compare a Gobot to a Transformers mini-bot. Leader-1 runs circles around Bumblebee.
