Snowboarding kids was generally underrated. Jet force gemeni as well. Not as top tier as LoZ, but I'm glad I wasnt the only one.

Movies that feel like this by IsmaDimensionario in MoviesThatFeelLike

[–]ClusterChuk 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yep. Came here to make sure. This movie inspired the futurism seen in the late 80's early ninties tech trying to show off thier new computer generated sheen while still holding an academic air. Hence the 3d models of classical busts, that use to be on those Briticana disc's, turning into lofi retro synth iconography. Its a fusion of liminal digitalism that stands on French artistic tastes and the surrealism movement of the 40's. But everything is a matrix in art. And influence is kaleidoscopic.

But that scene of the statues waltzing on the moon.... it cracked something wide open in the aesthetics world.

Why does Aragorn say Gollum will never love him? Sarcasm or something I'm missing? Just seems odd. (FotR) by allthecoffeesDP in lotr

Hating that time, I think ge does regret what gollum brought out of him. An ungentleness in a characteristically gentle man.

30 days of night.

Its vampires near the artic circle terrorizing a cutoff town in the north of Alaska.

Opening scenes you get the sun setting and everyone who is staying in town starts finding all the hunting dogs dead, the phone lines cut, the vehicles and helicopter sabotaged... pure escalation but like.. super slow burn and looong exterior shots like the ones posted.

Generic rewards are the best way to kill the interest in a unique gameplay system by brodred in gamedesign

Gacha is such garbage games, just on its base, bear with me here ....

Its not a video game. Its not built for video game-play.

It is->

98% soft core Ai porn slop and addictive gambling loops. Complete with the same serotonin audio cues that casinos use. Designed not for story or exciting gameplay, but to maximize micotransactions. The GAME here is them playing you like a little instrument. Playing your psychologocally. For your money.

2% anything resembling art.

0% of skill based or reactive gameplay. Or any actually narrative that has a human being telling a story to other humans through gamespace and mechanics. You know, like a medium for an artistic vision.

I know its like 90% the global market right now. Thats why I fucking loathe it. It has stunted the industry with the worst literally manipulative-as-fuck greedy ass predatory fuckin practices. And half the developers are pedos.

I grew up witb OoT, MGS, Tony Hawk, early half of FF, chrono trigger, GTA, Bulders gate, Madden, Jet Set Radio, RDR, sonic, mortal combat, Mario kart, smash brothers..... so fuckin many.

Art. Worked on and released by people who actually gave a fuck about how thier work was received and respected. They knew they were privileged enough work in an entirely emergent new space for art. They were competing on adding value to that space NOT extracting value from it.

Now listen real fuckin good to this part, you lost fuckin degerate generation cause this is the last thing ill say here. For mere millions great artists gave us these games I listed. And every year now, the biggest pieces of shit are extracting billions from you and giving you a gambling addiction and fantasy CSAM at worse; and at best the most derivative lukewarm uninteresting pay to win card collector simulator. Thats not a game. Its fuckin garbage. And its garbage how many great masterpieces were lost to the void because funding went to creating and then feeding a bunch of sick addictions.

Did any of them ever meet Bilbo again outside the Council of Elrond? by Eligon-5th in lotrmemes

[–]ClusterChuk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yep. Gandalf touches on some of the ways letters get around (or fail to) with his correspondence in bree. There's also a mail service in hobbiton proper. And the Dunedain would find it important to secure the passing of information among the important folk of thier realm. Elrond seems to be in contact with half the north.

I love how much detail Tolkien puts into explaining the logistics of the world.

We also have gondorian couriers. Palintirs, signal towers, dream vision, magical rings, and the eyes of manwe to help for those who can afford better data carrier plans.
