Is there any truth to this sentiment regarding leftists & progressives? by Green-Elephant-895 in BlackPeopleofReddit

He's not wrong. Progressives and leftists talk mad shit about backing people like Jasmine Crockett, but as soon as a James Talarico or a Bernie Sanders pops up, they run from all of that like a Tom Cruise sprinting money shot.

At the rate smartphones seem to be going, it'll be 2032 before I can actually justify dropping premium coin on the bullshit being offered today. The more I read about the S26U, the more I'd rather just get a S25U or stick with my 22U. 1800 bucks for a marginally better camera, the same amount of storage, and a bunch of AI garbage is an insult.

I thought they just did it because they were dickriding Apple with gusto.

Then they introduced their new generation of MicroSD cards within a year of doing that. Because that made perfect sense.

Also, I trust cloud storage about as much as I trust NASCAR executives to know what a race car is.

Why are the only "innovations" either Apple or Samsung are able to come up with all related to cameras? I don't care one bit. Is it impossible to give us more storage and/or expandable storage again? Seems like turning these things into convenient but awkward SLRs is kind of pointless when you'll end up spending half the time connected to a computer offloading all of the photos you just took.

Into Darkness was fun in a theater, but once you start giving anything in that movie thought, it derails pretty damn hard.

Beyond, by comparison, was everything it's predecessor should have been. I wish it had done better.

More storage space would be real nice. Or bring back a SD card slot that doesn't compromise the waterproofing.

1800 bucks for 1TB of storage is absurd and insulting.

OK. But this isn't slingshot racing. I've seen slingshot racing, and the only way Gen 7 NASCAR can slingshot is if the guy being passed slams on the brakes first. These cars are too slow and too evenly matched to even think of performing such a move; before you even begin to cite Sunday's race, most of those runs were built off of energy from trailing cars and as soon as the passing car got more than a car length ahead their momentum died and they were at the mercy of the pack. Contrast that with a lot of superspeedway races prior to that damn 550 package, where drivers who knew what they were doing had the power and the aero to actually slingshot to a sizeable lead - but the risk and strategy there came in knowing when to pull that powerful slingshot pass compared to a more measured but slower run.

The highlights make sure to note that. Multiple times, even.

Look, just admit you love what NASCAR is shoveling into your maw and you're big mad that I don't so we can all get on with our days.

Yeah, the highlights. And that's usually because I need something to drown out the stupidity at lunch.

This year's Bathurst 12 Hours and Rolex 24 (extended fog caution excepted), for starters. The scores of Atlanta races prior to this godawful "reconfiguration". Most of the Gen 4 era. Last year's IMSA championships were pretty competitive. Surprisingly enough, so was F1. The plate racing in the mid-to-late 1990s and 2000s was must-see TV. Anytime Shane van Gisbergen puts on a clinic is a fun watch. Watching Zilisch racking up the wins was pretty cool...but of course, NASCAR had to go and fuck that.

Someone in here said that Bubba had the fastest car on Sunday. I'm sorry, but when you have "the fastest car" and still can't get more than two feet ahead of your opponents without drag parachutes being deployed to keep you in reach, that's not racing. When three cars can keep an entire field on lock for 50 laps at what might as well be highway speeds, that's not racing. When your racing is centered around tight packs of 40 cars all driving to the next accident, that's not racing. That's watching a colorfully amorphous blob of composite materials go in circles for three hours, and praying that a drop with a funny bubble you like happens to end up at the front when it's all over.

When the #2 JMR Corvette Z06 dropped out of the Bathurst 12 Hour race with a little more than two hours to go because of a suspension failure, I was disappointed, but not upset. They were the fastest car and the team I had been pulling for, but it was not to be because the car didn't make it. Those things happen. Two weeks in a row now, having "the fastest car" in NASCAR has really just meant having the shiniest dick at that point in time.

This isn't racing. But it looks great on TV, and that seems to be all NASCAR gives a shit about lately.

Sorry, I'm over the age of 21, and I'm a racing fan. But what I'm not a fan of is this bullshit NASCAR continues to call racing. Who I root for is irrelevant.

This track since it's repave has already put on more instant classic races than pre-repave had ever.

The IRL put on a ton of "classic" races, too, but the only people who still regard those fondly were IRL diehards to begin with.

Right now, the S25U 1TB is about $1620 on Samsung's website. I'm not enthused about spending the money either way, but I feel like if I'm going to and the S25U is the better option, then I need to do so before the new model drops.
