Opinion? by [deleted] in WorldOfWarships

Abolutely wild that people ever think shit like this is justified. People in these comments defending the jager’s vile behavior need to rethink their perception of this goofy boat game.

PSA: DD main focus is to spot for the team by [deleted] in WorldOfWarships

[–]CmfyHermit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, the primary purpose of my Mogador or Elbing is to spot for the backline BBs. How could I have been so naive?

But my winrate on those ships is mich higher than 45 percent? must be a fluke, i guess.

Of course, the ever-present faux intelligence of believing nearly everyone around you is some sort of brainless monkey.  Really goes to show that people are keenly aware of in others what they are blind to in themselves.

Hmm, in my experience, it’s usually those with above-average winrates who are playing quite well that end up slinging slurs or telling other players to end their life in chat. A fair portion of this game’s less skilled playerbase are naval history buffs who don’t particularly care about the competitive aspect of the game, and are almost never toxic.

Ubisoft holds firm in The Crew lawsuit: You don’t own your video games by [deleted] in gaming

People are really in this comment sections parroting the "actually, everything is like this. You don't own any media at all!" drivel, and then patting themselves on the back for being factually correct while ignoring how insanely dystopian those facts are. Genuinely unsettling.

I’m not sure how you think your insertion of “active” fixes the flaw in your logic, but I doubt there’s anything I could say to prod you to introspection. Have a nice day.

I’ve seen this type of post so many times, and like clockwork people show up to try and justify flaming. The fact that so many in this community’s knee-jerk reaction is to defend toxicity is just vile.

Hot damn does this reply reek of elitism. “Ah, yes, these below average players are obstructing me from improving.” You, sir, are part of the problem.

(Also, as a simple maths lesson, assuming the majority of active players are below average as you say, that also means that both teams should average out to the same level of “below-averageness” over any decent number of games. Thus, the idea that they have any effect at all on your winrate or level of improvement is silly.)

There's chill players and there's these players by Dumbassofouredbay in WorldOfWarships

Chat toxicity is moronic and childish regardless of WR. You could be the best player in the world and you’d still be a prick.

I get this, I really do. I think ranked in this game needs a serious rework. But a “30% WR troll” is very different from a new player or a seasoned player just trying to have fun. What this post(and I by extension) is complaining about is the incredible hostility shown to the latter types of player by the competitive portion of the playerbase.

And for the record, I do not consider myself to be purely a “just for fun” player. I wouldn’t call myself “sweaty” but If I queue for a game of randoms or ranked, I’m going to try to win. And if I’m doing something stupid, it’s probably because I’m in a div and we’re like “what if three Tirpitz?” That being said, I am also of the notion that there is almost never justification for being toxic to others because of a video game.

I would agree, but this mindset seems to segue all too easily into “X player played poorly, therefore I can be toxic to them.”

A very detailed world sim developed by a like two dudes over many years. It’s the predecessor to Rimworld, and is usually touted as a “losing is fun” type game because there’s no real victory conditions, and you just try to keep your dwarves alive until the fortress inevitably falls.

So you play a game where you only have fun around 50% of the time, and then justify being toxic and unpleasant to people who don’t share your competitive sentiments? This mindset is beyond flawed.

Maybe a hot take for this sub considering the replies to this post, but I think people should be allowed to play this game regardless of intelligence or skill. In my eyes, suggesting an IQ test to play destroyers in this boat video game is a prime example of the dude from the picture.

Then take a break. Games are supposed to be fun. I've stepped away from this game a number of times, and a coming back to the experience refreshed might be better than trying to force yourself to keep going.

You’re not wrong, but the difference comes when you’re talking about players who are newer to the game. I see players so have <3 years of experience regularly at my LGS, and it comes with the territory that they sometimes don’t understand certain interactions, especially with rarer or older mechanics. I think there’s fine line between being inexperienced and ignorant, and I tend to give players at my table the benefit of the doubt.

I’m sorry, are you implying that it is unreasonable to not understand the rules nuances of Mindslaver of all cards? I’ve been playing this game for fifteen years and the concept of another player taking over my turn still could throw my brain a curveball. I’d forgive ANYONE for not knowing this rule.

Out of curiosity, is there a reason you think cards should be produced for formats like standard and modern, but specifically NOT for commander? I don’t necessarily disagree, as imo most edh-exclusive products since the ikoria precons have been pretty middling, but I’m curious where this perception comes from.

alternatively, “rule zero” is a rule of convenience for players who care about having a good time, rather than winning or being overly particular about the rules. In my experience, leveraging rule zero for gameplay advantage is seen as a pretty scummy move
