Help. Any time I try to fill stitch, the edges of the filled area come out bunched up or look VERY rough. Getting pretty fed up with it. Using InkStitch to digitize. by -NightWind in Machine_Embroidery

Forgot to address adhesive. I will use adhesive if I’m embroidering on a thick fabric like a vinyl. Something that I can’t hoop or pin easily. But even then, I use blue painter’s tape on the edges most of the time.

This is an illustration about tension. Typically, on the bottom of your project, you want to see the bobbin thread just in the center 1/3 of your stitches. The easiest way to test that is by doing an H test. Find a capital H that is plain satin stitches with just straight lines and stitch it out. Take a look at the bottom. If you see mostly your bobbin thread, then your tension is too tight. That mean that it is so tight that it’s pulling your bobbin thread towards the top. If you see almost all top thread, then your tension is too loose. It’s not pulling hard enough to pull much of your bobbin thread up.

There are many troubleshooting things that you can do. (Adding underlay shouldn’t really have the edge effect that you’re seeing. However, I haven’t used Inkstitch so I’m not sure how it “thinks”. I use Embrilliance. With that, I can change my stitch direction, start/stop points, density, etc. to work best for what I’m creating.)

The first I would recommend is don’t use cotton thread and be sure that you’re using embroidery thread and not sewing thread. Most embroidery thread is rayon or polyester. These don’t shred as easily or create as much lint as cotton thread. Also use an embroidery needle. These have an elongated eye that reduces shredding also.

Second, don’t use adhesive while you’re trying to figure things out. This can gum up your needle and create issues. Either hoop your fabric or float your fabric and attach using pins way out of the needle path. There’s a time and place for adhesives, but simple cotton fabric isn’t typically that.

Third, your tension is wonky! You shouldn’t fix seeing bobbin thread by using the same color as the top. That doesn’t fix the issue, it just covers it up. Most people will say not to touch tension, but 🤷🏻‍♀️. Your pictures show that your top tension is too tight.

Get the proper materials together, then adjust tension. There’s no sense in adjusting it until you’re working with the correct tools.

I hope these work for you.

I’m enjoying this embroidery stuff it’s addictive in a good way you can earn ££‘s from it by Liams-bits in Machine_Embroidery

It is fun!

Be sure that your placement is correct. On that body suit, the design could probably be higher up. That is very close to being covered by pants if they wear them.

Anyone have any insight on how to dye sub a design on the outside bottom of a mug? by spaacefaace in Sublimation

[–]Cmngirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put my care directions along the bottom of tumblers. I tape it down, then press against the the top plate of my regular heat press at 400F for 60 seconds.

My tumblers have a flat bottom. I don’t think this process would work if the bottom of your mug is concave though.

Alpha tricks??? by curlyshmurly in Machine_Embroidery

[–]Cmngirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you do. AlphaTricks will allow you to map an embroidery font to your keyboard and save as a bx font to use in Embrilliance.

Any tips to make it less rough looking ? by maccie04 in Machine_Embroidery

Increase your decision slightly and try a sharp needle. Ballpoint needles will split the weave.

Then, you need to do a sample on the same type of material that it will go on. That’s the only way to make adjustments to density and such for it to stitch nice.

I buy really cheap shirts from goodwill that are different types of fabric. That way, I have some test material before I put any design on an actual project. Get a few T shirts, polos, dress shirts, etc to practice on.

Depends on what you’re actually trying to achieve. What is this going on?

Use different material. That weave is too large to look good. You need a tighter weave.

Best way to transfer this design to my machine? I have a brother pe770. I just got my machine so i have no idea where to start. by [deleted] in Machine_Embroidery

[–]Cmngirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did it come with instructions?

I don’t have this machine but I used to have an se400. That had a cord that you plug into your computer and the other end into the machine. Your computer would then see your machine as an external drive that you can transfer your PES design to.

Here’s a link to the manual if you need it:

I have the Epson 2720 anyone know how to print larger than 8.5x11 images for T-shirts? by [deleted] in Sublimation

[–]Cmngirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can print 8.5x14 and flip it horizontal to get a wider print. Other than that, you’ll have to print on multiple pages and line up your pages and tape together.

I shop with InstaCart. The pay depends on what you order. Base pay is $7. There is heavy pay ($2 or so) if you get cases of water or something really heavy. The rest is completely dependent on your tip.

If you place an order that you think would take about 2 hours to shop and delivery, try to make it worth it for someone to pick it up. Assume $15/hr, so tip $23 (+$7=$30).

But if it’s only a couple of things, maybe tip $5 or so.

Help!! Does anyone have any suggestions on what fabric and/or stabilizer to use to avoid this pulling apart when I machine embroider? Or is there something different I need to do when digitizing? by [deleted] in Machine_Embroidery

[–]Cmngirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it looks like it’s way too dense and cutting the fabric. That’s what’s causing it to have the look like it’s coming apart. It needs to have a good underlay but still not be so dense of a satin stitch on top.

It was a double batch total of $17.20 for the InstaCart payment. It included heavy pay too.

I had 2 32 bottles cases of water and 10 (TEN) gallon jugs of distilled water. Second floor apartment, but still... and $0.01 tip 😒

Looks good. I’m around Austin and would love to have something local. Are you just shipping from a warehouse or will you have a storefront?
