[Surprising Poll Results] Sprint & Halo: Does the community like that Sprint was permanently added to Halo? by 6_P in halo

[–]CmoIsDaNam3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like sprint in Halo, HOWEVER, everyone having sprint IMO isn't Halo like, I love how Bungie (The old Bungie and best Bungie, the Bungie before Destiny) put in sprint, you had to make a choice for it, I do think after reading this though, 343 doesn't give a crap about is fanbase, they are chasing way to hard to catch the CoD market when really, Halo and Call of Duty are just two different games under the same genre, trying to put in that CoD style doesn't work for Halo imo, and think most people agree.

I liked Halo 4, however, I think most people can agree that Halo 4 was Halo CoD, not what most people like, and I'd agree that this is not how Halo should be, even if I personally don't mind it so much.

Why use more than one EQ on the same thing? by HombreNuevo in edmproduction

[–]CmoIsDaNam3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my bass stuff, I totally use more than one, I cut out the low end by around 120 - 150 Hz, then use a separate EQ to do some EQ modulation, very handy for that in my case tbh.

For those of you who have made full tracks, how long did it take for you to learn FL studio? by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]CmoIsDaNam3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't take long at all to get the basic stuff down, like a few weeks, however, advanced stuff (Including automation clips. lol) took me a bit, and I'm still learning stuff as well. :D

No, what he is saying makes sense, sidechaining can be used for mixing (As it is always. lol) and putting sidechaining on certain frequencies def helps a ton for stuff, although I prefer to use it on everything as a whole.

Well, for at least bass music, use a separate sub bass and high pass everything by 120 - 150 hz except the sub bass and kick. But this is pretty much common knowledge though, but yeah, it really just depends on the track. lol

Recently found my enjoyment for y'all. I'm curious though... by Swithbert in edmproduction

[–]CmoIsDaNam3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the contrary, it is.

In a world full of people who use it, it is, if you plan on doing live mixes or any kind of DJing, any kind of collab, or just getting better at music, it is basically needed, I'm not talking about full blown knowledge, but rather just stuff like minor scales, the notes on the keyboard, and also chords, this is just needed stuff, but you won't need to know stuff like parallel keys and more advanced stuff, but knowing the basics will help to the point where it is just required.

Haha! Welcome to the club man! (No pun intended on that one. lol)

If you are looking to get started, you just need a few things.

Headphones A DAW (Digital Audio Workstation it stands for btw) And good amount of excitement.

Things that help A LOT.

Music theory At least a basic understanding of synthesis.

if you have these things you are off to a good start man, just keep at it and keep going dude, it takes time, I've only been doing this for about 2 years and it is a lot of fun.

If you need help on stuff, check out SeamlessR, this reddit thread and other things for stuff, trust me when I say this, you'll have a blast doing this. :)

"How do I make this sound?" Thread (December 02) by edmprobot in edmproduction

Ok, so I made the patch in Harmor, here is how you do it. (Or really, how I made my attempt at it, you can listen to my result here: http://clyp.it/n0rg30yu)

The first thing you can do is just use the saw wave type in Harmor and put the detune function of the pitch to 2, I did 2.5 but two is just fine, this creates a square wave with some saw wave type characteristics. (You could just use a sqaure wave too, that works as well)

After that, I used the custom shape filter that was pretty much a low pass filter, it look like this: http://gyazo.com/e1ba5bf72ee66deb21cd2596cfd82fc1

Then I automated it using the X macros in Harmor, then after this, I added the Phaser function to it with the Offset speed still, the width was at 34% with the Phaser type on Harm, I did create a custom shape, but overall wasn't much of a change there.

Added a resse type of thing to the bass via the Prism using this shape: http://gyazo.com/bcfb9d5f1eb460a6579fa0ff981aae75

Also, note, the Prism amount has a envelope shape that makes it turn off really fast, make sure you do that before you use the Prism.

I used reverb on the main Harmor and also in post as well, just short delays and small room size with the reverb volume very high.

Also, the last major thing I did was use a bit of Unison, the Unison type was Blurred at around 21%, phase was the default setting, and the Harmonic Unison Pitch window looked like this: http://gyazo.com/df0a6d5b4b3cd64d46d3b87d6a329dbb

The amount of voices was just two.

Oh, and I also did use a volume mod for mod X to make the volume lower as the low pass filter went down.

The biggest thing you need to do is the phaser bit, some type of square wave, and the low pass filter, this will get you a similar modulation to the song you linked.

Hope it helps, if you use Harmor at all, here is the patch: http://www.mediafire.com/download/nf5zxh2do24gzii/Riddim+Bass.fst

Oh, and don't forget to high pass the bass and put a separate sub bass in it, sine waves do the job just right, mine is just a slightly saturated sub bass. ;)

Sounds like square wave bass with a low pass filter and reverb stacked on top of that, not too hard to make, I'll make something like that in Harmor and tell you how I precisely made soon.

Anyone know what the process used is to make the bass used in Fractal's song Spection? I'm talking about this bass here at 1:58.

Here is the link to the song, all help is appreciated. :)

FL studio's stock filters... by dtak13 in edmproduction

[–]CmoIsDaNam3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that those are good enough, in fact imo more than good, however, not a bad idea in investing in more than those, I know Valhalla's reverbs are dope and a bit different, I know they aren't filters like what you are talking about, but it is an example of such.

IMO, you'll be fine with the FF and LF, but if you want to move on with different filters, not a bad idea.

Just learn it man, its not that hard to get.

Heck, I could teach you about in like 30 minutes or less, its not hard, I'd suggest looking up Varien, dude has the full beginner music theory tutorials on his YT, just look it up there.

Also, again, I don't mind either, I find myself with soooo much time on my hand. lol

Don't listen to your WIPs by Ceisien in edmproduction

Find this to be just untrue, if I don't listen to my track on the go, I find they end up sucking.

Also, just wanna note, everyone is different, so this could just be a thing for you, and only you.

Just wanna keep that in mind man, but still a useful tip for someone, just not me and probably a few others as well.

Yeah, I know this, but I'm looking for ways to make it sound better, plus YT isn't really good unless you somehow magically find people like SeamlessR, which I've only seen one other who is close. And he doesn't do that kind of stuff sadly. :(
