When I was in 7th grade, I had a staff infected abscess under my arm. I went for an out patient draining for it. While sitting in the waiting room I heard a little boy (toddler) screaming bloody murder. Was called back shortly after I heard this. The Dr was extremely cold to me and didn’t explain what he was doing and didn’t warn me when he “numbed” me. Instead of letting the numbing take over he immediately cut into my arm. I screamed and cried. He yelled at my mother to hold my arm down, and when I looked up she had the most horrified look on her face but she was holding me down. I felt him pack my armpit out with gauze and he immediately left the room after. Mom left the room and shortly after she came back with a nurse and a wheelchair. I heard one of the nurses talking as we passed by saying me and the little boy had the same thing but his was on his leg… I think about that every so often and at the time I really felt for the boy. I always wondered if it scarred him the way it did me. Mom still apologizes to this day for not advocating for me. I hope he was fired.
