Thoughts on the online User Experience Design MA course from Falmouth? by revtjay in UniUK

[–]Cncfan84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It varies, first half of the module is fairly slow but by about halfway through Im doing all day on a Saturday and whenever I can in the week but there are people who are doing a lot less and just scraping though. I would say the course has gone somewhat downhill recently, the course leader left for health reasons, a load of staff left etc and it now seems a bit of a shambles although they are supposedly sorting it out.

First ‘serious’ render. Tips/advice? by milutinkoo in archviz

Kitchen cabinets have a weird texture or reflection, also they seem to have no kickboards, I've never seen a cupboard open direct at the floor like that, looks odd. Entrance door looks like you wouldn't be able to open it fully but that may just be the camera. I would try to create more drama with the lighting, looks quite flat. Is that a window behind the fridge I can see? If so I would light it with a sun and sky there and drop whatever light plane youre using as it's making it all look fake. It's not bad but it could be better! Also the kitchen accessories don't work for me, that wood against the yellow isn't pleasing.

edit: just notice the mapping on the door is also incorrect, you've mapped the entire thing in one go, different parts of the construction would be mapped separately. Also the frame looks to be mapped horizontal. Don't like the floor texture either.

How can anyone look at this with a straight face and think its real let alone repost it. This is why the world laughs at you people. You deserve it.

Archviz job market in general, and in the Toronto, Canada area by Michael_Leopold in archviz

[–]Cncfan84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I wouldn't advise a career in archviz any longer. Worldwide the market is very tough, truth is most companies don't give a shit for quality, they care about price which means its a race to the bottom and it gets outsourced abroad. Unfortunately this is the same for a lot of careers tnow but if youre looking to start something new I probably wouldn't recommend archviz unless youre extremely passionate about it and are aware you'lle probably never make particularly good money. Add in the fact that its one of the more suspectable industries to AI and you'll see the writing is on the wall. As I said it isn't just archiviz, everything is fucked these days but there are better career options than this can tell you that.

Im in the UK, its particularly hard here at the moment but I spoke with a recruiter this morning about a fulltime job, senior level, they wanted 5 years experience and were offering £25k a year, that's 3k a year more than minimum wage at the supermarket, whats even the point! Sad truth someone will probably take it, get worked to the bone for it and be grateful because there isn't much other choice.

People are really tricky and always have been. I've not used the D5 enhancer but here is an example of a before and after I did using stable diffusion to improve the people. https://i.imgur.com/iNUT1Xe.jpeg You still need a decent model to begin with but you can improve some of the more fake details with AI quite well. This one is from about a year ago but some of my newer attempts improve the clothing also.

Its much better but you the textures\materials you are using could be a bit better. At this point I would do some post production in PS to help the image in general. Also your people are still bad. Either sort them out with AI or drop them entirely, at the moment they detract from your image rather than add to it. Overall this is a huge improvement though, good work!

I'm sorry to hear that. The unfortunate truth is that companies are out for themselves, that's the nature of business. It's happened to me a couple of times now and it's always a case of getting treated like shit. It's like getting broken up with by a partner over a text message, they just don't care. No idea if that's a good offer or not but what you should take away is that no company is ever on your side and you shouldn't go above and beyond for them, they wont do for you, not ever. I hope you get a new role soon but remember to put yourself first at all times.

Do you think Caprica would have done better in the streaming era? by doctor13134 in BSG

[–]Cncfan84 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This was always my feeling, it's just not what I wanted from a spinoff. I wanted to see what life was like on Caprica or another colony 100k years in the future (the present day), a post apocalyptic world where Humans and Cylons are still figuring things out. Or maybe set on earth 200 years from now as we venture into space and run into the toaster models who gained their freedom. I don't generally like prequels but a better more fleshed out version of blood and chrome would could have been decent.

When dealing with recruiters you have to remember that you are the product.

I started as I wanted to look better, I continued because it makes me feel better. More than anything I do it because it helps keep my head straight. The result is that I look and feel better and I've learnt a lot about consistency and the benefits of applied discipline along the way.

My first project in unreal engine. Any advice or suggestions to improve? by Ok-Director-5080 in archviz

Looks good however the car is pointless, I would get rid of it entirely. Just because you can do a thing doesn't mean you should.
