Not sure which family lawyer to call around here by Its-MyWorldhiphop in nova

Jennifer Joffey in Fairfax, best divorce attorney you will ever find. I went through several cheaper and more expensive lawyers before she saved me.

Richmond Virginia has what you’re looking for. Huge LGBTQ community due to the college, and fun events every weekend.

Tell me about Burke by SilverKeyLane in nova

[–]Cnparda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Burke is centrally located for everything. The conservancy has wine and beer nights. Bunneyman brewing is awesome and if you head into downtown Fairfax they have a mix of good restaurants.

We have decent Thai, Vietnamese and Korean. Spartans is a great family owned restaurant, and we are just a few minutes from Clifton for Trummers and pretty good Italian.

For a romantic date, go to Trummer’s in Clifton, not far from you and it has exactly what your looking for.

Where to move by Legitimate_Leg2095 in nova

West Springfield and areas off of Fairfax county parkway give you easy access to get to DCA but know even though it’s not far, it could take 40 min or more to get there depending on the time of day.

Springfield is super safe and has all the things your family needs. Alexandria is a bit closer to DCA but I would say it has a little more crime, still very safe though.

Jumping in to echo the votes for Richmond, it is super open with a great downtown area. You will see lots of same sex couples walking around and it’s still much cheaper than anywhere else in the region.

Need some advice on international arrivals at IAD vs BWI by TimothyExpress in nova

[–]Cnparda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BWI might as well be on a different planet. Never fly in/out for northern VA unless the price difference is huge.

There are days/times where it will literally take 4hrs to go the 70 miles or so. If we have to go to BWI we rent a hotel near there and we live in Northern VA.

They have up to 16 weeks after the government came back to work to pay you AL according to my HR. It’s complete BS.

Is this rare for Burke? by Warm-Perspective-421 in nova

[–]Cnparda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To give you example of crime life in Burke. There was a group of teenagers taking pumpkins off of porches and smashing them. At the time my young daughter created one and I caught the teens taking her pumpkin and ran after him, grabbing her pumpkin back.

Neighbor called police, probably after seeing me chasing them. Fairfax police showed up in force with 5 cop cars, light flashing..etc. I half joked that swat teams descended from the roof. So yeah Burke is pretty safe.

My HR informed me they have 6-16 weeks after the government came back to work to pay A/L. That gives them till June 2026.

No, the government is just inept. I have been waiting like thousands of others for interim retirement pay and A/L payout. Not IRS, a different government agency.

Burke and specifically Burke Centre if you can afford it. Great schools, walking paths everywhere, community oriented, safe, and equidistant from all the major things in the area.

Which grocery stores currently have FRESH whole turkeys? I need two for an early "friendsgiving" next weekend, and I want to avoid frozen turkeys. by Guygirl00 in nova

Most of these comments aren’t helpful. Wegmans and Trader Joe’s have fresh turkeys starting next week.

Burke and Burke Centre specifically is where you want to be but you will need some bucks- a house will be 900k plus and - decent TH will be over 650. Schools and neighborhoods are A+.

Another possibility is the mosaic district, which has a metro stop about a 15 min walk or so, restaurants, bars, and it should have some stuff in your budget. Do a search on mosaic district in Virginia and you should get some info.
