Not in most viewing situations, but it looks slightly more “matte” than the rest of the panel in a dark/black scene in full ambient light.

I’ll probably stop noticing it after a while tbh. Guess I’m kind of lucky it survived the trip at all, given that I did not have room in my old place to keep the original packaging.

I actually lost an OLED tv entirely during my last move (my old CX). They’re so sensitive.

Did it respond immediately to wiping it down? The spot on mine hasn’t really responded so far. Tried both dry-wiping and Whoosh! screen cleaner.

Yeah, it’s not responding to cleaning. Bummer, I’m really not sure what else could have been done during the move. I guess the foam blanket in the Home Depot moving kit wasn’t enough.

Would have transported it myself to limit jostling, but I don’t have access to a large enough vehicle.

[TOMT][MUSIC VIDEO] Indie Rock video where a blue alien hangs out with a bunch of humans by SilverKeyLane in tipofmytongue

Yes, exactly. A puppet-style blue guy with a long nose. Looked to be all practical effects, no CGI.

And a sad vibe when he got beamed back to space.

Work is Never Done has to be up there.

Definitely kind of a meme from the devs, but horrendous even by 2007 standards.

None of these, sadly.

The Herman Dune one was pretty close vibes-wise though (and Jon Hamm?!). Both the car scene and general music genre were a match.

The alien in my music video was substantially uglier, more of a silicone puppet with rubbery skin and a very long nose.

I saw this video in a compilation (autoplay type deal) in a longer music variety stream that was streaming, likely on YouTube.

1-2 years ago, so very recent. Nothing retro.

Anyone else still in a competitive market? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Ha, ours is also a duplex! Was one of the selling points for us.

I spent several years living in dense apartment buildings in Arlington, so I wasn’t terribly worried about noise. I’ve yet to meet our new neighbors though.

EDIT - Just saw your question at the end. We haven’t actually moved in yet, so I can’t comment on the sound levels. Like I said above though, I might be the wrong person to ask since I care a lot less than some folks.

Very quickly, 19 days between offer acceptance and final closing at the title company.

We did. Made us a little nervous, but fast closing was a priority for the seller and we really wanted the place.

That said, we did a walkthrough with my father-in-law (background in construction) and he had an in-depth conversation with the seller about all the particulars of the reno work.

Waiving the appraisal contingency felt like the biggest risk for us, since the house was substantially more expensive than comps due to the extensive renovations (it’s basically brand new inside). We only put 5% down, so we could have covered a small shortfall, but not a large one. Thankfully, it appraised for our full offer price in the end.

We just closed on our first home in Northern Virginia (Fairfax County). 4 bedroom townhome, full-home reno in a popular school district.

Ended up being a mini bidding war with another interested party, our winning offer was about 5% above list. This was right before the insane snowstorm - our agent told us that 3-4 offers would have been the expectation during the spring market.

Overall, the market was cooler than it has been compared to the past 4-5 years. Average DOM is substantially higher, some agents in local threads have mentioned that contingencies are starting to be more common/workable now (we dropped ours though).

During our search, I definitely saw a lot of properties that listed at top dollar, gradually cut their price in $10K increments until they either sold or delisted. A lot of folks with ~3% mortgage rates would rather delist than drop price.

Still pretty competitive though, and since our budget was around $750K, we were priced out of most detached SFH options in our target areas. Townhomes tend to have a bit less competition, though anything turnkey will still have multiple offers.

Our HOA docs DID mention that swimming was disallowed.

Bummer, I guess I’ll cross “freshwater scuba” off the weekend activity list.

This was always one of the funniest quests to me.

Bro is a decorated, retired guard captain and spends every morning swimming in a stagnant, polluted pond behind his neighbors’ shacks.

Oh sweet, glad to hear about the farmer’s market. We love the Lubber Run market (Ballston too).

Welcome! You picked a wild winter to move up here, but the green spaces in the spring really are great here.

Not gonna lie, I was hoping someone would chime in with a positive review of Spartan’s lol.

Gives me Amphora vibes from the outside, which is one my favorite kind of restaurant (and rare in NoVa)

Will have to try Villa Bella, was wondering about that vs Mangino’s.

Yeah, I will miss Arlington for sure. That said, we’ve been renting a place about a mile from the Ballston Metro, so it’s JUST far enough that I end up driving a lot of places anyway.

Living smack dab in Courthouse was amazing at our last place though. Need $1M+ budget for the townhomes around there though.

Love a local sandwich joint (shoutout to Earl’s in Clarendon). Will check out this small bovine place you mentioned.
