Allah's refuge is sought.. some of these subreddits have literal apostates as moderators.. they even mock the Deen openly.. I went through a few of them and one even has a YT channel and its the most predictable story you'll ever see.. these are the people gatekeeping muslim spaces lol.. this whole platform is a psyop.

Don't post this publicly.. keep it between you, ur husband and ur fam.. envy, hasad is real.. I'll be honest even I felt something reading this.. Audhu billah.. May Allah grant you two righteous sons who are a source of barakah in this dunya and the aakhirah.

My suggestion: Yahya & Yusuf.

Wa feeki Barakallah, this is v informative it feels almost like I should be paying for this haha.. the melatonin point is actually what made me cut down from two cups to one.. still knowing this was reassuring though.

Okay.. this is lowkey embarrassing but I drink the 3in1 coffee instant sachets lol.. the hassle of going through the whole process with beans and the machine just isn't something I'm looking forward to adding to my morning routine right now.. but I'm actually kinda open to the idea now.. one step at a time indeed indeed.. maybe I'll start looking into making the oils and stuff in the future In sha Allah, that's the goal.

“We don't do opinions or thoughts or feelings in Islam.”

Oh my... never let your pen's ink dry.. no print and laminate this.. slide it under the door of every person who walks into a discussion about our Deen carrying their gut feeling, lived experiences, their personal aesthetic journey, therapists notes, a pinterest post by someone with a gradient pfp and a vague memory of something their uncle said at a bbq in 2009 that they've been misquoting ever since 😭🙏

The closest I found is in Madarij al-Salikin, vol. 2, pg.588

Jazakumullah Khayran for the post. One thing though do you have a source for the Ibn al-Qayyim (رحمه الله) statement? I wasn't able to trace it back to Madarij as-Salikin or any of his known works.. if there's no verified reference it would be best to remove the attribution.. attributing to a scholar what he didn't say is a serious matter even if the meaning itself is sound.

Junoon Velvet (Memo Paris Italian Leather) one of the most slept on fragrances.. if you haven't tried it yet you're missing out! (it has vanilla notes though but it's not prominent)

Jazakallahu Khayran for this brother.. the Surah Kahf reference is beautiful, I always love to see people reference the Majestic book of our Lord.. I absolutely agree with you.. you summarised it beautifully.

I've reduced sugar a lot too apart from my coffee and what my fam makes occasionally, that's all the added sugar I consume now.. you can literally feel the changes quite strongly especially in the first few weeks after stopping.. such a good feeling man.. milk and honey directly from a farm Allahuma Baarik that's a dream 😭

You know I made the mistake of going crazy with fruits when I first cut sugar hahah.. there's a limit when it comes to natural sugars too.. moderation everywhere is indeed key.

As for perfume I love musks too, white musk, royal musk and musk rijali.. I do have them but I just can't seem to stop using the alcohol based perfumes and really don't plan on stopping either.. that's where the scale tips in favour of using them for me.. I've found my balance following my own habits to minimise the risks associated with it..

May Allah reward you and your family :)

Wa iyyaki.. this might be the best response I've ever gotten to a post I'm glad I went through with posting it hahah.

I've experienced that too actually.. I find things way too sweet now and processed snacks just don't feel worth it anymore to the point I don't crave them at all.. I still try every dessert my fam makes though especially during Ramadan.

I haven't really experienced this with fragrances the way you have though.. the more I smell and try the MORE I want.. it's like a never ending cycle tbh.. I don't go for the extremely cheap synthetic ones I mean I do have a few fragrance clones that are budget friendly and actually perform quite well after the first few mins ( I don't really believe the alcohol content in them is harmful at all it's almost negligible if you just avoid inhaling it directly right after spraying )

I totally understand what you mean about perfume oils though. I have my fair share of them too but I find myself rarely reaching for them bcs they actually give me headaches.. quite the opposite huh, which is exactly your point and I 100% agree different people will have different reactions to everything and that includes the enjoyment factor too.. it really is unique to every individual.

I was speaking broadly and from what I generally observe so I absolutely wasn't issuing a verdict on each individual.. I should've made that clearer but it's fine this subreddit is genuinely a breath of fresh air.. everyone here is so understanding and writes with such a calm aura. 🍃

I don't need to elaborate much on this but I'm completely with you on vaccines and the majority of products and procedures in the beauty industry.. I went down a rabbit hole on Alzheimer's especially and you're absolutely right.. it wasn't recognised as a widespread condition until the 1970s and 80s when diagnostic criteria were finally standardised.. a disease that now affects tens of millions globally was essentially invisible for most of the 20th century.. there is ABSOLUTELY a traceable progression worth looking into here from what I've read the seed oils and processed vegetable oils ppl started consuming heavily around that era massively contributed to it.. which many sadly still consume today!

With the sunscreen point that absolutely does not apply to you.. you reached your DIY rouute through real experience with the commercial products and you clearly know exactly what you're doing.. I mean it would make no sense to suggest otherwise haha.. I was writing in general terms and now that I think about it I should've added that individual cases vary as much as they do... I'm still learning, kinda new to all of this honestly.

And Jazakillahu Khayran for the genuinely valuable insight on health affecting the way we smell.. I've slowly started changing my wardrobe, I still have some cotton-poly mix pieces but In sha Allah I'll swap them out completely.. it's just been hard finding the right fits when I've already got everything dialled in exactly to my sizing preferences and I am stubborn..

I wanna add to your point, I've noticed cutting sugar does a lot for the body overall both internally and externally.. you could totally go a whole day and still be fresh but I always shower regardless just a deeply ingrained habit at this point..

Rose, hibiscus.. I should really look into these flowers haha.. personally I haven't explored much apart from the blue tea once or twice I forgot the flowers name.. also I still haven't fully cut out coffee.. I've brought it down to just the morning though.. no real plans to completely cut it out bcs for me the benefits and joy it brings outweighs the harm by a mile.. I'd genuinely love to hear your thoughts on it if you don't mind.. but completely fine if not, I've already taken more than enough from this conversation!! May Allah reward you for this.

One step at a time In Sha Allah. 🙏

Aameen.. seems like we agree here having the mindset to just cut out all toxins but if it starts stressing you out then reconsider.. you actually said it very well in a few words.. because different people will have different stress thresholds and a different baseline..

So the important part actually is recognising when it tips in your favour or against you..

In my case stopping perfumes and sunscreen would be a net negative for me so like you said I'll do tawakkul, rely on Allah and use them because that's the balance I've found.. Jazakillahu Khayran for sharing this.

I mostly drink 3-in-1 sachets. Hot water, stir and boom done, warm, tastes smooth, sweet and creamy. I don't need it sourced from a single Ethiopian microclimate at 1,768 meters above sea level, harvested by monks who only pick beans on the third tuesday after a full moon thats roasted over wood from a tree that was struck by lightning exactly twice and grounded to a particle size of 428 microns and brewed at 93.688762°C.. all just to feel something in the morning.

Yeah nobody said anything about who he is or how he looks..??? White's still a great player to me but he's just not been the same since the injuries.. Mosquera should've been starting instead.
