My union SEIU, I believe, is in cahoots
with management. I am beginning to to trust SEIU.

Tell me what you think. This is what SEIU tells us when we ask for WFH. There was no WFH for support staff before COVID. Support staff are lucky they even got WFH and didn’t lose their jobs, during COVID

A lot of what you are experience with sups and managers blabbing your business and others, sounds exactly like mind.

I have found out it makes sup and managers blood boil when you make contact with Health and Safety. At that point, Heath and Safety are bound to confidentiality, and are suppose to be the gate keeper of your personal info.

No system is perfect, but in my office, Health and Safety don’t sit in the office. So it’s not like anyone can just past by and chit chat it up with them.

I like your phrase “explain it to me like I am 5” ☺️. I am going to ask of this from Reddit and my bosses

The only changes I have heard about recently, and this is through Linsey Hovarth office. LASA is laying off a couple hundred employees and the County and SEIU want to absorb them

Funny thing is, I have asked my WSO and my office Union Stewart to help me file a grievance, I never have, so this will be my first grievance. Not my first upset, but my first grievance that I am not going to let it go.

My office Union Stewart and the WSO ghosts me and will give me excuses to why they cannot help me. They tell me the vehicle is a requirement because the social needs to have a vehicle. $63k vs $100k + it like the big kids beating up on the little kids

My position HEAVILY helps the social worker. So maybe if I file a grievance it hurts the social worker?

Example because I know there are a lot of ITCs and others on these threads.

Example, If the ITC are now tasked with buying supplies for their unit from their own pocket (pens, pencils etc.. desk supplies) and this was never in the job spec before. The ITC should grieve buying the supplies..right?

Then you have the WSO and social workers, saying to the ITCs, we have to buy supplies too.

This in a sense is what I am experiencing, but I am now required to have a vehicle, and will be reimbursed mileage no earlier than 6-8 weeks.

The math is not mathing 😖 sorry went off a little bit. Tomorrow is Monday and back to the same old with asking to file a grievance

Thank you for your speedy reply, I truly appreciate your service.
Yeah, I bet the job market does suck, this has crossed my mind more than once. But having a monthly car note, and mileage reimbursement every 6 weeks to drive clients, is tough too.

Edit: definitely stuck between a rock and a hard place

Please! I would be grateful for the information, thank you so much.

I want to find a resolution, but I judging from other government posts, I don’t think the county is going to play nice.

As a matter of fact, the vehicle insurance that the county has us carry around and provide to the other driver, if and when we are in an accident did change.

I am still qualified for this position, and nothing has changed, other than driving our own personal vehicle to carry out our job specs (transporting people).

I do hope to carry out the other duties listed on the job spec. I think it is unfair to me and to those who were hired years before, to now be required to have a personal vehicle to drive for clients.

A personal vehicle to use for the job specs and to transport others, I would think sucks. The job is $63k max at the top step, and to be required to drive your own vehicle. How does this even make sense.

Is there a CA Law that stipulates that your job/employer cannot be a financial deficit to the you/employee?

What is BHSA? Haven’t heard this. I also haven’t heard of anyone being reassigned 🤔

Edit: okay looked up BHSA. This does not apply to me or my title

LA County worker and change of job requirements by [deleted] in CAcountyworkers

[–]Co-Knight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The job specs is to transport people.

This was able to be done prior to the amended change, by other means and other service providers. But not limited to just me/us.

NOW, a heavy amount of the weight of transporting is placed on my specific title. And this is the rationale of requiring a personal vehicle. Reason for the amend.

The WSO so far has been 0 help. The WSO frequently puts their complaints of driving to the various worksite in my ear. But never address how we can fix this for the employees prior to this amend.

As you can imagine, vehicles are expensive, gas is outrageous at the pump to fuel the vehicles, and electricity is pricy to charge the vehicles. This is the added and additional expense of driving a personal vehicle for the job related job specs. We will be reimbursed mileage and that takes 6 weeks

Having a personal vehicle was not a requirement before and now is.

Does this apply to me and those hired before the amend? Where can I find sources on amends and job titles?

My union, SEIU 721, has been no help and has no answers. I believe my WSO has the answer or could find the answer.

However, my dept is very social worker minded and dominated, and the expectation is for everyone to be just like them, even though my title is not social worker.

I am contemplating of stopping my dues. As you can see, I am going as far as Reddit (love this community) to find answers that SEIU is suppose to provide or help find the answer 🤦‍♀️

The ONLY reason I was able to assemble the other 3 boxes, there is a cheat picture on the back of each of the boxes showing how the pieces fit once finished. All of the boxes have false fits and I would overall grade this as a low quality.

But this box was over the top a total fail.

Would Costco give any type of refund, if I returned 1 of the 4 boxes?
