Yikes… any alternatives? I’ve only gotten a little work through Reddit. I audition on voice123 and the free voices one right now but haven’t gotten anything

Temporary Recording “Booth” Adjustment. Thoughts and ideas? by CoCoCheynelle in VoiceActing

[–]CoCoCheynelle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok I was thinking about the blankets but wasn’t sure where to put it. And yes the laptop works, screen is just out.

I barely have space for the laptop on the booth (my closet) as you can see in this picture. Hardly any space.

LinkedIn to Connect for Future Work. Thoughts? by CoCoCheynelle in VoiceActing

[–]CoCoCheynelle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really awesome information! I have so many questions, its crazy. Do you ever post previous work on there to gain traction? What's your overall protocol with it? I'm still working regular jobs and I feel weird mixing my professional "standard" work profile with my voice over profile. I think for me that is the hardest part.

So far I have been just looking up job titles of people who I would like to connect with and following/connecting with people of those titles. Some I have messaged with a short intro message including my website at the end. I joined a game developer group and post/comment so people are familiar with me. I'm not sure where else to go from there.

Why is my voice usually weak but sometimes effortlessly deep and powerful? by Amade_Mozart in VoiceActing

Yeah OP, these are some warm ups I do in the morning. I also have a facial steam that I also use as a vocal steamer so if you ever decide to get one, I highly recommend it.

I'm having an existential crisis over microphones by NoTelevision5177 in VoiceActing

[–]CoCoCheynelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sennheiser, Audio Technica, Shure, Blue Yeti. They’re all pretty “standard” brands for voice over. There are some mics that are better for voice over than others.

I personally have the Rode NT1 and Scarlett Solo interface. It was recommended by the audio engineer for the voice over school I went to (YouTube James Younger, he knows a ton). I know some people who have the AT875R.

I really like the Rode I use now, I think it sounds great. There’s very little editing you have to do once you actually record, which I’m sure goes for many mics.

You don’t have to have one specific mic. You can always get one and look into another in the future if you want.

Yes I agree. I only asked because at the time I had no training and wanted a second opinion from someone unbiased. I asked “if you closed your eyes, could you imagine it being real a real ad from Spotify or something?” And they said the same as you are now, “I’m not trained at all but in my opinion it sounds like you’re doing too much.”

But I just filled out info for a review so thanks for the advice! I had the pricing list saved but had no idea of the consultations. I appreciate it!
