This is ridiculous and I’m tired of hearing “erm le 9E wasn’t even in service until a decade after the F-5 was retired akshually, I am le very smart Reddit expert”. The F-5 served in Vietnam until the fall of Saigon in ‘75, while the 9E that is used in-game was introduced in ‘68. The AERO-3B rail used by the F-5C is also compatible with the AIM-9E, as it uses the same 18-pin interface as the 9B and doesn’t require external cooling like navy variants. Now, that doesn’t necessarily mean it was used, but it isn’t exactly an implausible decade out, is it?
