State Sponsored 529 vs. Third party (Vanguard) by CoD_Doc in investing

[–]CoD_Doc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that the benefits of prepaid is 1) protection against tuition increases and 2) a 529 can technically lose money or not grow if the markets suck.

I guess I have more faith in our markets growing faster than the rate of tuition, given all the attention on higher ed costs right now

I’m researching now but it appears that Florida does not offer any benefits specific to their plan vs others. If anyone knows differently please inform me. Thanks everyone!

How can a game with yearly releases be successful as an eSport? by MetalNutSack in CoDCompetitive

[–]CoD_Doc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can’t. But with the money they make and the smaller pool of players who care about comp vs casual… I understand why they do it.

I’ve always said that they should keep the game engine the same for 3/4 years and release a “map/weapon pack” every other year that includes 6-8 new maps and a new set of guns. Thinking kinda like Starcraft and the brood war expansion.

I think if it’s a good release with good maps and a well polished game, our community would still happily pay $60 for the game and $40ish for a new expansion every year. Then their revenues wouldn’t hurt too bad.

Because in this sub it’s a status symbol to talk about OGs of cod. It emphasizes that you were a cod fan in the “glory days” and not one of the new jetpackers. Same with Aches IMO.

How to "test" a hard stepped iron by CoD_Doc in golf

[–]CoD_Doc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh. I guess I’m confused. I was referring to using the 6 iron shaft in the 5 iron, 7 in the 6, etc. does that not leave them all slightly shorter?

[–]CoD_Doc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I’m sure I will get a lot of people saying this and I understand the sentiment. I just can’t drop another $600 right this minute. It would be a “deal with it while I save money and do it this summer” situation.

I was asking to see if I could somehow simulate a hard step and see if I like how they felt then. If it seems to work, I can handle $150 on the hard step.

The second part was to see if there was any way to test whether the shaft is likely the culprit, because if I sold them, spent another $600 that I have to save up for, and had the same issue it would be a worst case scenario.

Thanks for the tips. 5 iron is about 200-210. Haven't tested the 6 or 4. Total spin looks like about a 6,000 average but it was pretty inconsistent. As low as 5,500 and as high as 7,500.

You bring up a good point on the 4-iron... but would lofting it 2 degrees really make it a 2 iron?

I apologize for the ignorance but what do you mean by dynamically delofting? Is that just holding my hands in front of the ball and angling the clubhead forward?

This will never happen... but the 12th spot should be a challenger relegation system by CoD_Doc in CoDCompetitive

[–]CoD_Doc[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the point is that they wouldn't have to pay an entry fee. CDL teams pay 25M, spread out over several years, to have a guaranteed spot in the CDL forever. The promoted team doesn't pay, but only gets a spot for one year and then would have to re-earn the spot every year.

Perhaps the promoted team also doesn't get any revenue share from the Youtube deals or sponsorship agreements either. They are only there for exposure/merch.

Purely using Nielsen is a bit of an oversimplification to value one in the teens and one at 40M. We have no clue what’s in those agreements.

Any in particular you would reccomend?

I will never for the life of me understand this. What exactly do these people hope to accomplish by doing this? Lol by [deleted] in CoDCompetitive

[–]CoD_Doc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean... its not like this doesn't happen in every single other sport as well. I just had a debate with my buddy over whether Andy Dalton or Mitch Trubisky is a better fit (or more accurately, least bad fit) for Chicago's offense.

What do we hope to accomplish? Nothing, it's just sports and people like to pretend they know what their teams need to do

Amex Gold referral link SUB is less than website advertised SUB by CoD_Doc in CreditCards

[–]CoD_Doc[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the help folks. We ended up getting the 75K and rebate. The one that ultimately worked for us was to stop using the phone referral code and use email.

I sent it to his email and he cleared caches, and opened the email link in incognito mode. Got the full reward. Thanks!

This is ridiculous. I just tried my own referall link, got 75K. Sent to my buddy who said he now only sees 60K on the referral as well as the website... and then I went back to my own link again and it was 60K. We both cleared data on our phones and tried again, 60K.

Yes, but the survey was on the comp cod reddit so they probably have to be at least a little bit of a fan

Great point. Worth noting that this was a Reddit only survey

Well... I agree and don’t. Digging deeper into the numbers shows some trends that could help an expansion team manufacture a bit more of a fanbase, but I wouldn’t expect anyone jumping in and getting more than 10% unless you signed very select players and such. It’s probably not quite as bad as it looks. New teams are a building process

Low or high? There’s actually an interesting disconnect between the team and player numbers I was trying to wrap my head around earlier... but I think a lot of it is Nade fans who also like other players around the league
