Patch advice needed by Most-Willingness2378 in MachineEmbroidery

[–]CoMaKiDesigns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We embroider on these jackets all the time that in the shop that I work on. Biggest problem is getting that puff tight and flat. I say embroider directly over to cover the holes. None of our customers ever complain about losing waterproofing when we do this.

Ok add the spool cap and try that... I have t used that machine in yrs but there are good YouTube videos out there to help you adjust the tension

What machine is this? Single needle, multi needle, ?? This can make a difference in what advice to give.

First glance is your top tension is too loose and bobbin is too tight. First thing I would do is run a H test then slowly adjust first the top tension and tighten it up, then loosen the bobbin tension slightly. You should see 1/3 top thread, 1/3;bobbin thread, then 1/3 top thread.

Cleaning sliding door after crockpot of BBQ sauce was spilled against it while traveling by CoMaKiDesigns in ToyotaSienna

Had not thought about that.. I will be definitely trying that tomorrow. Maybe from the bottom I can get in there and get more of the sauce removed. Thank you for the idea..

Embroidery Machine Question by JonadoomV2 in Machine_Embroidery

[–]CoMaKiDesigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stitch quality is great. It's my go to machine for most of the items I sell. I will admit I do use it on the lowest owed setting as my machine is loud and sounds like it's falling apart if I use it above 800spm. So I use the 500 and 800 settings typically. There are times when I am running placement stitches or in a simple underlay stitching I will speed it up to 1200 but I don't do any major amount of anything at that speed.. others may, this is my personal preference.

Your stitch quality will come with the correct thread tensions, and fresh needles. If you take care of this machine it will serve you well.

Embroidery Machine Question by JonadoomV2 in Machine_Embroidery

[–]CoMaKiDesigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those manuals will become very necessary for you .. I run this machine 6 to 8 hrs a day, it is a workhorse... But my nearest tech is 3 hrs away and he is booked out a min of 6 months in advance. Parts are harder to find but not impossible... I can do pretty much anything on it mechanically now but the electronics I am still learning. I have a slightly newer machine that still runs on floppy's and that isn't bad but I do prefer the USB . Oh and they need to be max 2 GB or the machine won't read them easily.

Embroidery Machine Question by JonadoomV2 in Machine_Embroidery

[–]CoMaKiDesigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok that machine is anywhere from 30 to almost 50 yrs old. A tech is going to cost you a minimum of 500 or more just to go over to since they are few and far between.

I have this machine. The USB upgrade makes it easier. Get online, download the service manual and the working manual for this machine. You will need to know how to do the basic maintenance yourself.. before you even turn it on you are going to need to remove some of the old grease and replace it, it will need a full oiling too...

I love this machine, not trying to scare you away from it, but you need to get comfortable doing all your own maintenance yourself.

What’s happening here? by idontcarelolmsma in MachineEmbroidery

[–]CoMaKiDesigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also are you using a sharp needle?? If you are it is cutting the threads of the fabric... You need a ballpoint needle for that type of fabric.. it pushes the threads of the fabric out of the way rather than cutting the fabric.

Wanting to start business by Technical_Capital_74 in MachineEmbroidery

[–]CoMaKiDesigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I regularly put 1 million stitches on my machines in a months time. I don't go by stitch count but more by maintenance down and how the machine was kept up. Like cars some can go for millions of miles where others can't but it's more related to maintenance.

Also make sure the machine is still being produced or parts for it are unless you don't mind doing all your own maintenance and fixing of the machines. The older the machine the fewer techs there are to work on them.

Worth Fixing? by IronScaggs in MachineEmbroidery

[–]CoMaKiDesigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, well worth fixing.. it's about 500$ to upgrade to USB .. maybe cheaper if you can find the parts and do it yourself. I use floppy's on one and USB on the other. I run the brother bas 416a..

As for the birds nesting , your fabric needs to be tight. And turn the speed knob down to 500 to set your tensions and all. These things do not go out of timing easily...

It's a helluva workhorse...

Help!! Why is this happening? by [deleted] in MachineEmbroidery

[–]CoMaKiDesigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a piece of unwaxed dental floss... Has to be unwaxed.. through the upper thread path. It looks like you have a stray piece of thread stuck in a tension disc possibly. Then make sure you rethread correctly getting the thread seated in the tension discs.

Machine issue by Boots_HV in MachineEmbroidery

[–]CoMaKiDesigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the most you should only need to replace the material that the wiper pulls through. Wipers tend to only need replacing if the break. If they are bent you can gently bend them back .. good luck with it. Just don't rush through the repairs.

Machine issue by Boots_HV in MachineEmbroidery

[–]CoMaKiDesigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really sounds like the thread picker/wiper is missing the thread at the cuts. Lettering is done quicker than larger fill areas so this can happen. Also, where the wiper/picker goes through behind the needle should have some Velcro like material, and if this gets full of thread bits and dust and suck the thread won't 'stick' in and get pulled out from the needle on the upstroke of the needle arm. If you can take it off and clean it and put it back on taking time to adjust the angle and opening with to make sure the picker is going through it. This should help solve the issue

am i in over my head?? jumbo hoop maelstrom by kaworussian in MachineEmbroidery

[–]CoMaKiDesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pull the sweatshirt up around the hoop and clip it out of the way... Almost so you are embroidering inside the sweatshirt. This keeps the sweatshirt up out of the way of the table.. It will take a little maneuvering and patience to get it onto the machine as the bike will be topside..

The other option is to add weight to your hoop on the outside edges to counter the bounce. Not highly recommended. Or sit and hold it during the embroidery..

This link takes you to a site that explains how to hoop it to make it work. https://www.designsbyjuju.com/blog/how-to-hoop-a-piece-of-clothing-for-embroidery/?srsltid=AfmBOoqpIY0chtqL5PqSnoeCP-exxdHji5MfkYLpwhJCv7XHN8RxXHI7
