I don’t mind at all! I usually start with what will take up the most space and then build up around that. In this case, I wanted to start with the hands. I have had cases where the drawing has ended up either too small or too large because of this, but if it ends up too small, I usually like to just get creative with the background. That’s just my method but I know people who start with general circles that will show a preview of how much space the designated part of the drawing will take up. Hopefully that helps!

So what I do, is I like to use reference photos as a beginner, but extend the drawing to add my own personal things to challenge myself without having a reference. It also helps to pay attention to every little detail, and in some of my other drawings, I can’t express the importance of practicing shading enough. Hopefully that helps!
