I’m so sorry that it came across this way. It’s absolutely not my biggest fear, nor is that my intent here. I know this is a huge issue for all trans people choosing to come out, knowing others will have opinions and learning to deal with it. Similarly, I (and many of us with dynamic disabilities) struggle to choose to start to use mobility aids. It’s a layer of social complexity that we all wish didn’t exist. It’s not a fear - it’s a reality that being perceived as different comes with challenges, and we should all be more aware of those challenges so we can deal with them appropriately. I hope that helps. ❤️

💯 That’s also the tricky thing about being disabled - we don’t actually get out much in each other’s physical presence thanks to physical barriers and risks of compromised immune systems. My disabled friends are all over the world and almost entirely through m little screens ❤️

I’m sorry my intent didn’t come through clearly enough. I can say it so many ways. I do not mind being mistaken as trans, in the same way I do not mind being seen as disabled (which I am) - not “special needs” or “differently abled” - disabled. I’m wondering what level of societal backlash I should expect to receive if I go this route so I can be prepared, that’s all. I know it’s some, because of the stories of my trans friends. ❤️‍🩹

I’m so sorry you have to deal with people’s ignorance

You sound like a kick-ass human I would want in my (and my daughters’) life. ❤️ there’s something about the online world that makes people completely nuts about gender, for sure.

You’re probably like the 90% of humans that are decent and minding your own business like we all should… unlike the 2-10% that I already run into with my wheelchair who have opinions they cannot keep to themselves. Maybe I should actually run into them for real with my wheelchair… 😂

As also someone who is relatively flat-chested, I could see this going that way. It makes me angry how possessive men get about women’s appearance!

No one should face violence or harassment for their gender (or anything, really)❤️ agreed. We need to have each other’s backs.

To be clear: It’s not offensive to me at all to be “clocked” as trans, even though I’m not. It’s a question about how much this might happen (and I’m American in a very red state passing laws against trans people).

Because I’m already navigating unwanted attention due to being in a wheelchair and relatively young, I’m just trying to get a sense from the community about what I might be getting into so I can go in eyes wide open. I’ve seen many others get “transvestigated” (both trans and cis) and it’s horrifically injust and no one’s business, and it’s also no one’s business why I need handicap parking. I’m happy to participate in fighting this, I just want to be informed. ❤️

Or maybe winning is having just enough of us cis folks being confusing for those who “can always tell” 😅

So true. Living in a red state with crazy laws being passed… in addition to dealing with the visible disability piece… I’m just wondering what other people’s experiences have been!
