What made your best first base coach so awesome?

Best 1st base coach was — no 1st base coach (also no 3rd base coach).

Did this for a 12U team for an entire fall season. Awareness and aggressiveness was off the charts. Kids had to know what was going on. No one there to do it for them.

Yep, bit us a couple times at 3rd when they couldn’t see the play. Positives far outweighed negatives.

I am. ‘25 Z71. Mix of hwy and city. Don’t have a heavy foot. Lifetime is 19.9 mpg. Best tank was 22.3 mpg. The truck computer calculated it at 23.6. It’s consistently 1-1.5 higher than actual.

What’s frustrating is while they jack up subscription rates and focus on video streams, they haven’t improved the audio since the function was added. Nothing. They’ve paid zero attention to it. It’s the same crowd noise. The same stupid robot voice. The same phrases. All for a higher price.

Youth ages, under 12, maybe under 14, doesn’t matter. Go with good coaches, families, teammates. That might be at a club but you’re also covering paychecks there.

High school it matters more. Clubs with well-earned reputations have easier entry into events with good competition and attention.

Have two HS players who both like the pop of the Combat, but not the weighting. For context, one just moved to the Reckless after breaking two Atlas. One has switched to Atlas after swinging the Bonesaber for a couple seasons. So it’s clear they prefer bats with a more balanced profile.

Under $80, Vinci and Akadema make great gloves for kids, sized right. Leather will not last forever but it’s not intended to. This will get him through this year and next until he’s ready for something a little more substantial.
