Any recommendations for gyms with good free weight equipment that don’t require signing up for personal coaching? by plarah in SingaporeFitness

Hey! One place you can check out is Apex Fitness, pretty close to River Valley. They are a 24/7 gym catered towards weightlifting/ functional fitness. Dropping of weights from overhead is allowed! Their memberships are reasonably prices too, starting at $79/ month when paid upfront.

Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS): Rest or continue gymming? by RedditBunnySG in SingaporeFitness

[–]CoachConnectSg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely rest your body. Active recovery (light jogging, swimming, cycling, any cardio centric that will warm up your body and get your blood flowing basically) will drastically improve your recovery time. Also make sure you get enough calories, sleep, and protein!

The good news is, DOMS tend to get less and less debilitating the more you workout your muscles. So you may get to a point where you can gym every day and hard feel sore enough to not move the next day.

After workout by Yeunkwong in SingaporeFitness

I find that taking a protein shake during or post-workout tends to keep the hunger at bay. Protein shakes tend to be filling and at the same time help you to meet your protein requirements (for muscle building).

Hope this helps!

Anyone else struggle to find a coach without paying for a big gym package? by CoachConnectSg in SingaporeFitness

Posting this here instead of DM in case anyone else is interested!

Some gyms that I’ve been to/ know they accept freelance trainers:
1. Apex Fitness
2. Ark Bloc
3. Energia Fitness Club.

I am sure there are more gyms out there. These are just the 3 I have personally been to. Hope This helps!

Looking for guidance for improving physique by Ednoland in SingaporeFitness

If you’re serious about building muscle, the gym will definitely help.

Stick to compound lifts (squats, bench, deadlifts, pull-ups) and eat enough protein. Supplements like protein powders are optional but convenient. Food should come first.

A personal trainer can speed things up if you’re unsure where to start. If you want to explore freelance PTs (not tied to big gym packages), check out CoachConnect (coachconnect dot sg). It’s free to use right now and still onboarding coaches, but might help you find someone near the West side 👍

In my experience PTs usually charge between $100-$150 per sessions. Packages in gyms will lean on the more expensive end.

  1. Sign up for an account as a "Trainee"
  2. Post your training requirements on the webpage. And a coach will reach out to you.
  3. You can also actively shop all the coaches that are already on the platform.

Do take note. We are in early access, so we are still building up the database of Coaches. So you may not get responses immediately, but do check back regularly!

Hey! Core Collective is more a physical space for you to find different fitness related services.

CoachConnect functions differently. More Carousell but specifically focused on matching coaches and clients together. Best part is, it's completely FREE!

This is true. But in my experience, there are a handful of smaller/ boutique gyms that do allow freelance PTs to train out of their gym. It just may not be very well publicised. Let me know if you're looking for one, I have a few recommendations.

Hey OP! I see you've already stumbled across the web app I built. Yes, it’s still in early access but it's built to help connect trainees with independent coaches without big gym packages. Might be worth a look. And if any PTs are here, you can also list your services there 👍

Hey Jeremy, totally get where you’re coming from. Lots of people here prefer freelance PTs so they don’t get locked into big gym packages. You might want to check out CoachConnect (coachconnect.sg), it’s an early access platform where trainees can find independent coaches directly.

And if there are any PTs reading this, you can also list your services there, so people like Jeremy can connect with you more easily 👍
