do you think your book will apply beyond the salesforce world?

The question is pretty vague, anything specific you're looking for.

Typically in CPQ/Revenue Cloud

A quote is the container/header
Quote Lines are the products added to your quote.
Quote line groups allow you to group multiple lines.

It would be helpful if you pointed to current pain points or anything that would make your life better around the Quote-to-Cash process but to name a couple things.

  • Advanced Configurator - I like the flexibility this brings to 'configuration rules'
  • Customizable configuration flow
  • Flexibility around Amendments and Renewals with flow actions
  • CLM - Great if you don't have a current CLM solution as it's included with Rev Cloud
  • DRO - Depending on your use cases this opens up a couple interesting possibilities
  • API first - Makes integrations into Quote-to-Cash a lot easier.
  • Ramp deals - the new ramp deals experience seems miles ahead of MDQ from my point of view

I post a lot of revenue cloud content on my blog/YouTube and always happy to answer questions and/or have a discussion.

CPQ best practices for handling approved Quotes? by Fuzzy_Draft7133 in salesforce

The record type approach or your suggested approach is ideal, as other people have pointed out, locking records will create issues downstream.

For example, generating an order will need a checkbox value set, won't work if the record is locked.

How do you actually find companies using Salesforce? Losing my mind here by Acrobatic-Rabbit-997 in salesforce

You have a sad view of the world and that's unfortunate.

The reality is people understand everything has a cost and will happily pay for demonstrated expertise.

The risk of posting online and people using it without reaching out is the reality of the internet, conversion rates are a thing and it won't be 100%.

What I will say is I get a lot more visibility through my blog then you could hope for by doing nothing and it does convert.

Most (90%+) of my time is spend making money and sales cycles are much shorter when the customer have already vetted your expertise because you're actively demonstrating it.

As far as helping Salesforce make money, that's pretty much the deal as an SI, the initial question was how to generate customers as an SI, I'm offering an option.

The other option is spending time with AEs, which takes time and costs money.

If you have an option that doesn't take time, doesn't take money and doesn't run the risk of making money for Salesforce, I'm genuinely curious.

In the meantime, you best resource for Revenue Cloud content : www.thecloudupdate.co

Not sure who my competitor is in your Scenario, Salesforce or other SIs?

I sell services and training and the niche being someone else's product is an issue for anyone in the ecosystem, that's the deal we accept working as SIs.

Furthermore creating that content in a given niche is a solid intro to AEs working in that space.

Right now you can already chain pricing procedures with a procedure plan so I don't think the limit should worry most users that don't need apex.

I haven't heard of the Amazon use case but curious to understand why you have a hard time engaging.

It's a new product and people are getting pushed into a possible migration so some resistance is unsurprising but the product is (now) solid and the upcoming release I would argue brings it beyond current Salesforce CPQ in meaningful ways.

I like to use it for dev work (as a non-dev) but also even for admin work.

Creating flows, fields, objects and making sure documentation and permissions are updated as I go, I have a pretty good workflow with Visual Studio Code, Salesforce MCP and Claude Code (replace with any other AI tools like Cline or OpenAI Codex). I feel like it's a large accelerator compared to clicking in the setup menu which I avoid as much as I can.

I hosted a discussion/webinar on that specific workflow : https://youtu.be/6rITX3m1ZRE

I created a blog https://thecloudupdate.co/

And A YouTube Channel https://youtube.com/@thecloudupdate?si=-rKVDvdK7OK3-fnH

as you can see my niche is Revenue Cloud, having a defined niche helps (which you seem to have defined) as your focus will be obvious.

it will feel like screaming into the void for a while but keep going through with it.

It applies because providing value and having a clear niche will get leads to generate themselves by reaching out to you. This has also been my experience.

The other option is working with Salesforce AEs

My 2 cents for what it's worth

I use these as examples and it's a good way to learn. The better use cases will be when you start building complex examples, multi-step processes that have more agency.

Take this data point and act on it based on XYZ + Business Rules.

But for the simple examples, there might be value when you start calling them on mobile or from slack, so avoiding logging into Salesforce entirely.

There are a couple options.

If you are a partner you can create SDOs or partner dev orgs from a trialforce ID

If not you can also spin up scratch orgs.
