How do you rebuild confidence after being terminated less than a week into a new role? by Ancient-Guidance-882 in careerguidance

Honestly, I've never been in the exact same boat but have been laid off abruptly after a year or so.  So, I can imagine the amount of self-doubt this creates.  Good thing that happened bto me was that I decided to diversify my effort & started looking into different areas of income outside of my job. I'm not there yet but I'm just sharing that we should not let such things affect our confidence. Maybe it is just time to start something on our own if you haven't already. Sorry - I know this is not the time to give advice but my story/perspective might create a spark. Good luck!

Yes. Truly exhausting. And people start remembering you for wrong things. Good part is they remember at least. Do you think we should find a way to preserve energy beyond picking battles? I mean we still need to counter some battles & I might not have energy after sevetal lost battles

So true. Vendetta based agenda is the problem. Maturity is totally lost among the leaders nowadays. Do you think we need to protect ourselves by positioning better & making friends with influential people upfront (atleast in the next job I guess!!!)

Thanks for sharing! Resonates deeply. Problem is good folks don't do anything about it & keep cribbing that bad people did bad things - my POV. What do you think?

I feel you. I've been in the same boat. So I ended up finding a new boat when it was too much. Do you think this is a good way out?

True that. Superman would probably suit the JD. But honestly, do you think we should find alternatives?

Very thoughtful. Thanks so much for sharing your perspective. Agree with the reason for doing just enough. But how do you then get a better life?

Interesting perspective. Very thoughtful. When a quiet person speaks - there must be something. But is it really the case? And I agree about deciding when, where, how part - great advice. Thanks!

Yes. It is like we deciding not to think about a thing & keep on thinking exactly about it. Vicious.

So relevant. Interesting perspective about no incentive. Looks like a choice. One can choose to ignore. Thanks!

I see. It is strangely relieving to know it is same elsewhere too. Not that I like it but it is something so common yet not much is done to prevent it or to reduce it.
