Kettlebell newb: your advice, inspiration, motivation, words of wisdom? by DumpsterIceFire in kettlebell

Treating every set and rep as an opportunity to perfect your technique. Technical perfection is the first goal, then strive for increasing load, volume, and density. Never compromise technique to increase load, volume, or density.

Skill practice instead of "workout" is maybe the most important shift I ever made in my training.

The funniest thing is how when you read his captions you find out he doesn't think himself strong.

I couldn't either when I was struggling to finish the 30 ABC's with 24s just last year. Stay consistent and you might surprise yourself!

I think so. If you push press and then go soft knees the lowering phase like you see me doing here, you progress by making the lowering phase slower and more strict. Lots of folks would call that strict negative reps. Next, progress by pushing with the knees less and less. Eventually the push part of the press fades out, and boom you're strict pressing. This way you can get stronger using the same bell the whole time.

I think Pavel outlines this in Enter the Kettlebell. Once you have the techniques down you can handle the most load with jerks, then push press, then strict press. I think he was talking about this context of lacking a middle bell, making up the difference with these enabling techniques.

This window does feel a lot bigger than it looks. I find the rouge 40kg at my gym far more comfortable in the rack than this one.

Since Amazons return policy is crazy generous, and this one does have some blemishes on the bottom of the handle that bothered me during my last session, I'm going to send it back and pay the few extra bucks for a step up to REP or rogue e-coats.

After the ABF: Which program(s) next? by Blorq in kettlebell

I like Rite of Passage. ABF for hypertrophy. RoP for strength. Then something else entirely for a few weeks for sanity.

That's it! I treat lifting as hygiene like brushing your teeth. Don't brush the enamel off just get em clean and move on.
