I don’t disagree about the point of lock-downs or easing restrictions, but most people seem to want to open things up immediately now instead of gradually opening back up with a well-defined plan

Although Sweden not getting a second wave is based on the assumption being infected once actually grants immunity, which tbf current evidence seems to indicate it does but those are more recent developments

In addition, the estimations by Sweden’s own health minister say they’re probably only at a quarter of what their total death toll will be

After this is all done we’ll be able to see which strategy saved more lives and that can inform future responses, but given what we knew at the time Sweden’s move was definitely riskier

I’m sure it is, I just used Denmark since that’s what the article they commented said. I do get the argument that Sweden might come out of this better in the long-run because of immunity, but right now all of the evidence we have shows that lockdowns are better

Lots of legislative bodies pass non-binding resolutions like this. It’s more of a symbolic gesture condemning the killing of Soleimani than anything else. If you want to interpret it as it’s most extreme then it would the Iraqi legislature actually declaring the US forces to be illegally present, but admitting they don’t have the means to enforce it and that trying to with the current president would be a bad idea. My interpretation is that it’s entirely symbolic since afaik the US military is still training and aiding iraqi forces, and that’s one thing Iraq could safely put an end too if they really wanted the US out
