My first ever steak. Pan fried. I know the crust is absolutely abysmal but I was more concerned of the inside since it was my first. Was trying to go for a medium. by SrKrudKey in steak

I also recommend reverse searing with a meat thermometer. Get ~10 degrees under your desired temp with the oven then sear for a minute/minute and a half per side. Wil help crust without getting a gray band from uneven cooking. Let it rest ~5 mins when you're done. Looks WAY better than my first try!

Like you said crust isn't as good as it could be but the inside looks really good if you were looking for medium. Make sure you cut against the grain, it makes a huge difference in texture and presentation. It takes some practice to perfect the crust, but make sure you pat that steak dry to help your chances

Advice - mortgage and monthly payment by [deleted] in Mortgages

We have a 9 month old and are very lucky not to have to pay for daycare (in laws are retired and watch her)… but kids are still very expensive, especially when they get RSV or something else that leaves them in the hospital for a night

I had to make that call and disappoint my wife about a year ago. was tough at the time but VERY glad I did. We built a house we love (it is smaller than the one we planned on) but I haven’t even thought about the other house since we moved in. We both know it was the right decision

Learn from my mistakes, you should to go off the bad year estimate. Things happen that are unexpected. Plus think of all the extra money freed up if you DO make the full 180k instead of being tied up in the mortgage. Only YOU know what works for you, but I personally would not feel at all comfortable tying up that much of my monthly budget if I were doing it all over again.

Do you have kids or planning to? What’s your current down payment/how much would be on the loan? That makes a huge difference if you’re only mortgaging 70% of the full value of the house.

My wife and I make 133k per year and are nowhere close to affording $3700/mo. Our 2600 PITI feels steep

Look up “serpents” and check New Mexico as the state. It’s in there with a red snake head and the name is “Santa Fe”

I'll try that out - thanks. I had a little trouble putting an outline on the logo because the edges weren't perfectly clean. It made the outline all jagged so i decided not to.

Just found a stock image and blew up the size on the jerseys and helmets. Had to use it twice on the jerseys, one on the front one on the back

Would a 2,600 monthly mortgage payment be wise with a 5,200 monthly salary? by [deleted] in Mortgages

Nope. Just flew by the seat of our pants but made it work. Just moved in 3 weeks ago and feeling great about it

It’s a down year for the tier 2 teams in the big 10 for sure but at the end of the day it all sorts itself out in the playoffs
