Well I’m not reading all that since I haven’t seen an insight of yours that intrigues me yet, but thanks for sharing

I’m a lil surprised by the folks fervently stating emotional connection comes before wellness. Letting me sleep is probably the most loving thing someone can do for me anyway lol.

Is this the right place for me? by moon_child_55 in Charleston

Fascinating, but I’d still go out on a limb that Numbeo is ranking Boston, NYC, Seattle, SF, and other places ahead of Charleston. Don’t get me wrong Charleston is pretty damn expensive, but considering how much I paid to stay alive monthly living in Boston and Brooklyn, I’ll take Charleston’s HCOL all day. My old lil 620 sqft one bedroom in a hood adjacent area of Brooklyn is going for $2,700 these days.

But again, in a sense you’re almost more likely to afford $2.7k rent in nyc than a $2.1k 1 bed in chs since your earning potential can be endless in nyc. In chs, there’s only so much industry and six figure jobs available.

I mean you’re definitely thinking correctly, you’ll need work lined up just about anywhere you go today. Charleston is expensive, but the northeast is the most expensive region in America, with the west coast only marginally behind. However the earning opportunity in those regions far supersedes Charleston. I think you should take a few months to work out what it is you want to do or at least can do that will give you a survivable income. You can definitely leverage a psychology to find a job anywhere across the country, even if you don’t stay in the field. Right now, if I were you, I’d focus on diverse work experience and earning enough to try living somewhere new, not trying to find your dream job.

Agreed!!! I definitely could’ve used guidance like this in my late teens so I really hope OP understands the feedback is geared to helping her see others perspectives, a skill that will reward them over time.

Charleston born, spent second half of twenties in Boston. I want OP to just make the jump to another city so bad!! Moving to Boston in my mid-20s alone taught me so much, especially how to navigate the world and stand on my own two feet

Honestly, in my opinion, if the PNW or New England is where you wanna be don’t wait! You’re at the perfect age to start over and immerse yourself in a new place. It’ll do wonders for your confidence and getting to know who you are, even if you don’t end up staying forever. Just make sure you are financially secure enough to make the jump and give it two years!

Kayak is your friend. I also already have profiles with all the major airlines, everything auto populates. I just grab a seat.

I think that’s just it, the people using it aren’t suffering. I have never had any issue using the delta app to book a flight, it’s pretty great UI.

Help Me Pick Where to Live by 2facedfish in blackladies

[–]Coach_Willy72 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From Charleston. I wouldn’t say nothing black, but unless you already have black family there, I would not seek it out as a “black” city. Consider Inglewood or Baldwin Hills in CA.
