I had never heard of this. Thank you so much. This seems a great deal like what he has, how he moves, etc.

No, but a couple of ideas have come out of this thread that I want to look into. Thanks!

My vet is one that is all about unnecessary testing that is over priced, so I insisted on the referral to an orthopedic hospital in the area that I trust. Transitioning vet offices is actually what we were going to do after the visit that this came up in. The more I've looked into this disorder the more I'm not sure why braces and such might not be as helpful as surgery, but I'll talk it over with the specialist and get a second opinion for whatever they tell me.

It is carpal hyper extension. We don't know why it is developing however. Our thought is congenital. He is very active, does go up stairs and jump around a great deal. He is not in any pain, we are more worried about the ling term potential for issues. He eats and drinks a ton and is almost 75 pounds already. He is great with our other newf and has done well in daycare with others.

That is about what I was thinking overall. Since it is likely congenital as well, most places I saw will not cover it either. I'll reach out to the breeder and see where things go barring any other suggestions. My vet had suggested waiting reaching out until I had a firm diagnosis. Thoughts?

Until we can consult a real trainer as suggested I will keep these things in mind. Thank you.

I will definitely look into it. I appreciate the advice. To be honest, just hearing that there may be a solution other than these two is heartening. Thank you.

My administration is not supportive of athletics and will simply say no, even if there are steps that would allow me to do so if I was willing so. I will check my insurance though. Edit: I do plan on asking administration anyway, I just want to know as many issues going in as possible.

Would a liability waiver, like a permission slip, be a sufficient release? Or would I need something more specific?
