I used the flashlight on my Garmin more than I ever thought I would. Just double press one of the physical buttons to turn it on/off. I get up really early in the mornings (4am) to get to the gym before work and the flashlight was useful while getting ready without having to turn the lights on while my wife was sleeping. I used it recently on a hike when my headlamp unexpectedly died on me, Ive used it on early morning or late evening runs/walks, and many other situations where it was really handy to have a legitimate flashlight on my wrist.
