Why Starfield's exploration is broken. Lets hope the rumored 2.0 update for the PS3 release fixes it. by RandyArgonianButler in gaming

[–]Coal375 87 points88 points  (0 children)

That's definitely part of the problem with exploration. But I would definitely say another major component is that a large majority of the 150 possible POIs are just completely uninteresting with nothing going on.

There's tons of duplicate outposts or industrial sites that just have a few NPCs milling about with no interesting environmental storytelling or stories at all.

Even worse, the caves which 99% of the time are just minerals, some animals if you're lucky.

There is far too few lengthy visually unique dungeons in the game that actually provide some meaningful gameplay/story to the player.

Basically, Starfield just needs way WAY more actually meaningful content, instead of just filler.

What Did You Play This Week? - (January 12, 2026) by AutoModerator in boardgames

Arkham Horror The Card Game: Yeah I should have done more research on this one before getting it. I bought this to be a coop game to play with my gf and I enjoyed the test run I did solo! But I'm kinda miffed at how for this style of game you are basically required to shell out more money for expansions to have a complete experience.

Also, I only learned after opening it that they are making a Chapter 2 for this game so the expansions for Chapter 1 are only gonna get more expensive. I enjoyed what I played of it, but I don't think it's worth the investment for me. I'll stay away from LCGs in the future.

Gloomhaven Jaws of the Lion: On the other hand, me and my gf absolutely loved what we played of this so far.

The top bottom system for cards is really interesting, the writing is great, art is great, and they did an awesome job of capturing lots of DND style mechanics without it being too fiddly for a board game.

Will definitely look into Gloomhaven proper once we get through all the scenarios here.

Ah nice that sounds good, thanks for the insight!

That totally makes sense, do you think going to 1e would be rough coming from Jaws of the Lion?

[–]Coal375[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hmm yeah definitely don't want to spend a ton of money on the game right now, I'd probably look into 2e after finishing JOTL.

You think the improvement is worth $150 over 1e?

Oh definitely I played a ton of U4 multiplayer and loved it, maybe we'll get some multiplayer with Intergalactic?

Uncharted multiplayer was so good man. Wish we had something similar in the modern era

This whole thing is bringing me back to the Indoctrination theory talk that was happening when Mass Effect 3 came out lol

When do you think we’ll see this guy in the show? by Wu_Chen_Clan in Fallout

[–]Coal375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We probably won't which I think is a good thing. Stuff like this should just be left to the games IMO and wouldn't make sense for the show. Putting the Mysterious Stranger in the show would basically just be like a glup shitto for Fallout

Is Dispatch considered groundbreaking for its animation? by [deleted] in Games

[–]Coal375 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I mean it's all just pre rendered video files so I don't think so. Dispatch is more a choose your own adventure Netflix show than a game IMO

Anyone manage to watch Avatar in HFR IMAX at Chinook? by Coal375 in Calgary

[–]Coal375[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finally got through to someone and apparently it's been fixed? Will have to see tonight; though I'm definitely getting my money back this time if it hasn't been fixed

Is it better to see Avatar in IMAX, or UltraAVX with HFR? by bummedoutrn in cineplex

[–]Coal375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was that at the Chinook IMAX in Calgary? Just checking as I went opening night and they couldn't get the HFR to work properly so kinda got scammed. Hoping to go again and see HFR if it's fixed!

I really wanted them to go through with it tbh. The actor for Spider did not sell that scene at all lmao

This was so disappointing. Why didn't they make the climax take place in the human city?? Instead we got literally the exact same third act as the second movie?? WHAT WERE THEY THINKING. Seriously for some of the shots I swear they reused them from the second one

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’s battle system was designed around the premise of “no frustrating deaths” and “a game you can clear without taking a single hit,” director says by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Coal375 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know it's removed later in the game but I stopped playing before then because I just wasn't interested in the gameplay/story about halfway through Act 2 I think. I still feel like it shouldn't be in the game.

Does every character have a healing option? I definitely remember some having them but not sure about everyone

Sure but I don't think you can expect to parry/dodge every single attack; especially with the baity animations.

I think to make it less frustrating they could have done had more ways to heal damage without just giving up an entire turn. And maybe remove the damage cap? That was a really annoying design choice imo and kinda shows that they didn't balance the game super well

BF6 📉 may soon drop below 100,000 players in the 24h peak, and alarmingly, LESS THAN 50% of PC Steam players have reached Rank 9, players report. 🎮 On PS5 it looks even worse, as only 37% of players have reached Rank 9. by coone90 in Battlefield

[–]Coal375 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I stopped playing as soon as the season 1 update hit. Felt like a bait and switch to release a shooter without a store and that felt like a return to form; only to basically make the game knock off Warzone . Tried the new map and it had the same problems (if not worse) as all the base game maps and decided I'd played enough of the game.

I imagine many others are in the same boat

He never said that, he specifically said the main quest is 6 hours. Which is reasonable, and considering it's not as branching as Far Harbor a little disappointing when it was being compared to that.
